Put that knife in ya, take a little bit of life from ya
Am I frightenin' ya? Shall I continue?
I put the gun to ya, I let it sing you a song
I let it hum to ya, the other one sing-along
Now it's a duet and you wet when you check out
The technique from the two TECs and I don't need two lips
To blow this like a trumpet, you dumb shyt
This is a unusual musical I conductin'

Y'all nikkas is targets, y'all garages for bullets
Please don't make me park it in your upper level
Valet a couple strays from the .38 Special
nikka, God bless you

Threat was A-1 Battlerap over grimey production :wow:

Threat was pretty gritty. Jay liked how Premier made an R. Kelly sample sound tough on Unbelievable so he asked 9th Wonder to basically make a darker version of that with a different R. Kelly sample.

Threat has a little more bounce than Where I’m From or D’Evils but it’s all gun talk.
Yeah but it still sounds glossy, RZA and havoc beats have that dirty analog feel to it that add to the ambience

"Pregame" >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Ya - this actually IS Jay Z's grimiest track. More so than Where I'm from.

There were so many opinions in this thread - even people dissing others. Some were not that grimy - people dissed other tracks that were grimy, andin the end Jay has these mid level sound good tracks that are his true sound like Heart of the city etc. Welcome to New York is dope.

not his song (although he absolutely murders it and it's one of his finest lyrical displays) but the production on Sauce Money's "Pre-Game" is dark as fukk.

Edit- Link

.

that "hoodlum" intro is ill as fukk too with bumpy johnson strong arming dutch schultz

Thanks, you actually put me on to THEE Grimiest Jay Z song with Pre game. More hardcore than Where I'm from.
