In Africa each tribe would have an animal that they have an affinity to and hold sacred...a totem. They’d protect the animal’s existence, not use it for food and this help an ecosystem of Mother Nature.
An Indian cacs took this to literally mean animal worship and forget the real Almighty. An lost tribe of Africa called Rastafari don’t remember which “spirit animal” is theirs and so will remain vegetarian and protect all animal spiritually until they find out.
