Yea but you have seen some of the stuff listed so far :huhldup:I hope the brehs are taking notes on real slashers

Some of the stuff I can't front and say I've seen. I saw High Tension years ago so I don't feel comfortable saying whether it's good or bad because I can barely remember it. Devil's Rejects and any Saw after the first one is meh to me. And even then Saw may be meh because I haven't seen it in mad long either

Devil's Rejects was complete garbage...I am a super anti-Rob Zombie guy; I think he's a hack and everything he touched after House of 1000 Corpses has been a dumpster fire.

As for Saw, the only Saw that was great was the first one. Any other after that was torture porn and ridiculous; the first one had an intriguing story and mystery behind it.

High tension was ok, but that twist at the end fukked up the flick for me

I don't think Zombie is a hack because he's competent in what he does and he certainly has a vision. I just don't think he knows what "Scary" is and would rather pummel you into submission until you agree with him that his version of scary is scary. I have this Halloween dvd which covers all of the films and talks to directors and actors about the movies and this came out before he made his version. So he's one of the people interviewed and he makes a comment about the Halloween sequels becoming useless because it's one thing to have a faceless killer which is fine but then they had faceless people so it meant nothing when the characters died........then this man went and made two Halloween flicks that were exactly what he was kicking dirt on years prior

Ok I respect that viewpoint. As for the rest of the post, excellent commentary; Zombie is too heavy handed in his white trash-debauchery that he floods the movies with; And he doesn't understand how powerful "The Shape" is; Michael Myers, or The Shape was scary because he was the shape of evil; he wasn't a human, he was pure evil, nothing more or less; trying to add the human side was unnecessary and spoiled the mystery of "The Shape of Evil"....that's what scarier to me...The Shape of Evil coming, no talking, no human emotion, no nothing but evil coming for you...

Exactly. Michael doesn't need a backstory. When you give pure evil a backstory it makes it less scary because now you understand him. I don't want to understand the bogey man just let him be. He put so much focus on Michael he forgot to develop the characters around him; they're the ones I should care about. Your horror movie villain doesn't need to be anything except an idea for the audience to latch onto but you have to develop the victims. Give us someone to root for or feel bad for when they die and he did none of that. Glad the franchise tossed him to the bushes

word up, imagine if they did a backstory on Billy (black xmas), well the stupid remake did and we all know that was super trash.
