I think alot of the "superstars" lack the IT factor, these guys dont add anything extra to their characters. I think the writing could be better but at the same time these guys seem to read the script and follow it exactly with out any add libs or personal touch

made the wrestlers human and less "superhero like"

also, the superstars arent on roids anymore so they look like bonafide college students (cm punk, daniel bryan)

Extended breaks for wrestlers. A lot of the main eventers are just overexposed at this point, and none of the matchups feel special. Give them a break, and let someone new to the main event scene and see if they stick. Or maybe have an offseason. :ld:

Also, steroids :smugfavre:

Wrestling needs a croosover star on the level of Hulk Hogan SCSA or The Rock. Cena's ok but we know in the attitude era he would be just another guy. And like a previous poster said the writing and the continuity sucks big time.

Match length & characters. A lot of wrestlers are just regular-ass guys. Think I remember Russo saying that back in the Attitude Era, there were storylines/back-stories written for every character/wrestler. Every wrestler had their own story and we cared about that sh*t.

We cared about D-Lo's chest protector and him fighting X-Pac for the European title. We cared about Booker & Benoit coming up and fighting one another for the TV title.

We cared about Jericho/Malenko beefing over the Cruiserweight title or who was the man with the most holds or Hennig & the rednecks hating rap. We cared about Konnan's promos and title reign.

We had RAW closing with Val Venis getting his penis cut off by Kaientai in an era of guys like The Rock & Steve Austin because they'd developed a storyline for him throughout the show that kept us guessing what'd happen the next week.

There also aren't any stables or double-crosses with people joining up with the heels. Maybe, there aren't enough TRUE heels either while we're at it.

That's why I like a guy like Damien Sandow b/c he's a character and there's the potential to have someone shine through a program with him.

wrestling doesnt need stars... stars can be forced down your throat and people will be conditioned to love them like a bad song that comes on 20 times a day, or john cena.

wrestling needs to get away from 15 man writing teams when at the height of the company they only used 3.

All of this.

Stables and trust are two necessary things. Trust in the guys they're bringing up to actually know what they're doing out there and giving them some room to develop their characters. Stables to help develop those very same storylines that allowed for us to care about the midcard just as much if not more than the main event guys.

That chest protector shyt is so on point lol. At their height everyone that came out had a purpose. Everyone. Characters were developed and bounced off of each other.

I'd also saying feeding different demographics. There is something to be said for having niche groups/wrestlers that represent different aspects of pop-culture/underground culture/overall real life. For every anti-establishment Steve Austin you need that corporate kiss ass. They need polarizing characters that draw you in whether it be for their promo, skill or appearance. It helps bring in an audience when they feel they can see themselves in who they cheer for.

True.

Fans also have to play along. Back in the day, WCW used to have the nWo run shyt, and they were heels and convincing at that. You used to see a ton of nWo shirts in the crowd but when they heeled it up, people treated it as such. Could you imagine how much shorter the life of the nWo would be if everything they did was celebrated? WCW was still the company people wanted to see win even if they loved how the nWo was built up. When Hulk Hogan turned heel, people were legit disgusted to the point where they threw shyt in the ring. If that shyt happened in 2012, Hulk Hogan would receive the biggest pop imaginable.

they need to take a page from wcw circa 96-99...Keep the hard gimmicks and corny personalities to the low level wrestlers

all the top guys came off as serious dudes. No lame gimmicks, no cornballs, no weird ring names. Everybody seemed legitimate

The only hard gimmick was crow sting, which was the GOAT gimmick with a proper back story

I mean the current U.S. champ is a dude that was scared to go to the top of the ladder to grab the MITB briefcase :why:

If you never watched wrestling, whether you were 3 or 30, which one do you think would hold more entertainment value?
