I truly believe Slim would have blew up outside of the regional scene if he would have been managed better and had someone around him that he respected to keep him out of the streets. After he left P, he started doing his own thing and basically managing himself by starting Cut Throat Records.

I’ll Pay for It was a club hit here, and most people don’t know this, but Juvenile’s Slow Motion was actually Slim’s song but he let Juvie add a couple of verses and put it on his album.

Dude could rap his azz off, but it was obvious he was about that drama and catching bodies when he was away from wax. Slim and C-Murder were the same type of guy, they even hung together. Street guys that just happened to be rappers. They lived everything they spoke about.

Slim is in my top 15-20 artists ever (admittedly I’m biased), but unfortunately he died before he could put out an expansive catalogue. I would have loved to see how his flow evolved with time.

Slim is basically the New Orleans version of Pac and he’s highly respected and revered in the area. The same for DJ Screw and Pimp C in Southwest Texas. Every region has their fallen legends and he is ours.

:wow::wow:

First time I heard that shyt out in a club:feedme:

Slim was the first dude to talk about the soulja sign between your forehead that all of these rappers are getting or have gotten.

+ He was the first person to have this + tattooed between his eyes. He rapped about it.

"Everybody has one"

You saw Baby and Wayne getting it, and so on, but that shyt started with Slim,

He has it on the "Give'em to Raw" album cover. Dude been had the + tat between his eyes

3:24 “I’m bout to get that muthafukkin cross on my forehead…”

I heard it meant you got at least 10 bodies :merchant:

So what he didn't know? I'm still waiting to hear any rapper risk his life and/or freedom for helping someone they don't know whose in that type of situation.

@staticshock is a well known c00n and clown

Don’t mind him.. he’s the same guy who was mocking Nipsey on the day he died

Why does it seem like he’s the most respected street nikka ever in rap or some shyt? :dwillhuh: All those hood DVDs used to have random dudes all over the country shouting out “:rip: Soulja Slim”

I heard young ass 20 something year old rappers put him in their top 5? :dwillhuh: Did he even put out that much music in his short life for dudes who weren’t or were barely born when he passed to calling him one of their GOATs?

Also I heard about some shyt called Cutthroat or Kutt that’s a prison gang in Florida that’s based off of Soulja Slim. Cats were like yeah most people from Jacksonville in the state prison system that are in gangs are part of a gang that was started by some Katrina evacuees reppin Soulja Slim. :mindblown:
you know he was 6’7 he was magnetic figure, a lot of people looked at him as a spiritual figure in Magnolia

He wasn't afraid to tell it like it is. Spoke from his heart, gave his last.

I remember I pulled up on Slim, I'm about 17 or 18, I may have told this story, He had just got out doing his bid 2001, he had that Escalade on 22'' Alloids, He was about to perform at this spot in BR, I think it was once called "The Zone". He was in the back parking lot, him and a few of his patnas. I ended up driving in that area, it was pretty much for VIP, the owner, security guards and guest performers parked back there, it was supposed to be roped off or somebody directed folks from driving back there, but I got back there before it got roped off or before anybody was securing the area. I was actually just looking for somewhere to park. It was jammed pack to come see him perform, as a matter of fact, he was with Krazy, him and Krazy was doing a show together. I get in the parking area, looking for a spot to park, I see a parking spot, but them nikkas are all in that spot, jossing and smoking, I'm like man, I wish these nikkas get the fukk outta the way so I can park, me not knowing that it was slim, their back was somewhat turned towards me and my truck.. I start to pull in and I roll my window down to say, "aye let me get that spot right there", Slim took his cig out his mouth and walked up to my truck and was like, what's happenin wit it, what's happenin wit you, you just go run over us like we aint here, He wasn't trying to be biggty but he was trying to let me know that it may be a problem on hand, and I was like, what up Slim, that's when I realized it was Slim, and then Krazy walked up, and was like "who dat round" I said "man yall got the parking lot pack, I'm trying to get a spot, let me get that spot where yall at" Slim was like man we jossing and chilling but tell you what round, you can have it, He yelled out "ouuuu, yall slide to the slide and let round get this here here" I whipped my shyt into the spot.

This was what took the cake, I hopped out of the truck and dapped him and everybody up and I was like, Slim let me walk in with you bro, the line is packed, I'm like shyt what I got to lose, the worse he can tell me is no, Dude was like, say round, tell the person taking the money at the door you good money round, tell him I said that you good, James said you good. lol.
That was the first time I ever heard him say his name in public like that. I was like aight, appreciate it, then he got to talkin about how he was going to rock that bytch out and lay it down up in there. Gave me The Streets Made Me CD for free, (I had already had a burnt copy lol)

But Slim was different. I got another story

He was at the gas station, in the same black Escalade on 22'' Alloids that same year, maybe a week or so later, my cousin was selling CDs, I took one and went up to the truck, at the time, my cousin would tell me to sell cds to the tightest whips, the cars with rims and ask them to buy CDs, which worked. Slim was at pump 8, we were on pump 10, across from Slim, His window was slighty down, he had tinted windows but everybody knew that truck, I said to my cuz "that's Slim right there over there" let me sell him something. We both were trying to decide on who would dare walk up to his car lol. Finally my cuzin said go ahead. I hopped out of the car and walked over to Slim's truck, he sees me approaching his driver's side and he is reaching for something Lol, man all of my heart froze, but I kept walking, I told said, "Aye, I got a cd to sell", I had to let that nikka know, I am selling a cd and not trying to jack. He was smoked up, he leaned over and opened the driver side of his truck and that nikka eyes were barely opened, they are already dayum near shut as it is, but that nikka was high as a kite, he opened the door and the thing that he was reaching for was a 40 Glock, he saw me looked down on it and he placed it on his lap and asked "what you selling round" I was like "I got 3 for 10 sells on CDs" I think that Turk had came out, so I had that to sell, he gave me a 20 dollar bill, took a wad out and handed me a 20, I said you get 2 more CDs, I need to go grab some change too, dude told me to keep it and said he don't buy bootleg CDs, I had a "well um ok" look on my face. I asked him to sign the 20 dollar bill, he looked at me but he did it.
Told him that I appreciate it. Keep the 20 for about 2 weeks and spent that shyt on McDonalds lol. I told the cashier that the 20 was special, that Soulja Slim had signed it, I don't know if she kept it or not, she said that she was going to try and keep it.
I wonder where that 20 dollar bill at is now. Lol

Slim was that dude

wish Slim would have lived longer to collab with Gucci or Young Scooter.

Lot of these rappers fake as hell but you could always tell that Slim was as real as it comes
