Why does it seem like he’s the most respected street nikka ever in rap or some shyt? :dwillhuh: All those hood DVDs used to have random dudes all over the country shouting out “:rip: Soulja Slim”

I heard young ass 20 something year old rappers put him in their top 5? :dwillhuh: Did he even put out that much music in his short life for dudes who weren’t or were barely born when he passed to calling him one of their GOATs?

Also I heard about some shyt called Cutthroat or Kutt that’s a prison gang in Florida that’s based off of Soulja Slim. Cats were like yeah most people from Jacksonville in the state prison system that are in gangs are part of a gang that was started by some Katrina evacuees reppin Soulja Slim. :mindblown:

I truly believe Slim would have blew up outside of the regional scene if he would have been managed better and had someone around him that he respected to keep him out of the streets. After he left P, he started doing his own thing and basically managing himself by starting Cut Throat Records.

I’ll Pay for It was a club hit here, and most people don’t know this, but Juvenile’s Slow Motion was actually Slim’s song but he let Juvie add a couple of verses and put it on his album.

Dude could rap his azz off, but it was obvious he was about that drama and catching bodies when he was away from wax. Slim and C-Murder were the same type of guy, they even hung together. Street guys that just happened to be rappers. They lived everything they spoke about.

Slim is in my top 15-20 artists ever (admittedly I’m biased), but unfortunately he died before he could put out an expansive catalogue. I would have loved to see how his flow evolved with time.

Slim is basically the New Orleans version of Pac and he’s highly respected and revered in the area. The same for DJ Screw and Pimp C in Southwest Texas. Every region has their fallen legends and he is ours.
