Saw this on neogay:

Alive IP:

Resident Evil (Just had a release, underperformed, flagship franchise)
Monster Hunter (Has main titles in development)
Ace Attorney (Just had mainline and spinoff releases, only mainline titles localized)
Street Fighter (V release about two years ago, receiving updates, underperformed)
Dragon's Dogma (Online released about two years ago, new console title unlikely due to underperforming, not localized)

Unknown status IP

Strider (Last title was three years ago, lukewarm critical reception)
Devil May Cry (Reboot was about five years ago, 4 Special Edition was about two and a half)
Sengoku Basara (no news after last spin off, not localized)

On Hiatus IP

Mega Man (Last major release was seven years ago)

Probably Dead IP

Breathe of Fire (Last console release was 15 years ago, IoS title was disaster)
Ghosts and Goblins (IoS was 8 years ago, PSP was 12 years ago)
Okami (Sequel was 7 years ago)
Steel Battalion (2012 XBLA title was absolute disaster with a 38/100 score)
Bionic Commando (2011 Rearmed 2 sold under 10k on XBLA)
Lost Planet (3 "sold below expectations" and critically bombed)
Dead Rising (4 missed sales goal by over a million)
Marvel Vs. Capcom (Infinite seems to be bombing pretty badly, just had a release)

Dead IP

Darkstalkers (Last sequel was 20 years ago and last rerelease didn't sell enough)
Star Gladiator (Last sequel was 19 years ago)
Power Stone (Last sequel was 17 years ago)
Rival Schools (Last sequel was 17 years ago)
Dino Crisis (Last title was 14 years ago)
Viewtiful Joe (Last title was 12 years ago)
Final Fight (Last title was 11 years ago)
Godhand (Came out 11 years ago, failed to meet sales expectations)
Onimusha (Last major release was 11 years ago, 2012 browser game ended in 2015)
Commando (Last title was nine years ago)
Dark Void (Came out eight years ago, failed to meet sales expectations)

Failed IP

Deep Down (Panta Rhei MIA, still not seen 4 years after announcement)

Seeing that list and remembering all of the classic games (especially the bolded) they dropped in the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s has a breh like :mjcry:
It's hard to watch a company you love fall of this hard.

They dropped so many good franchises that had potential, they rebooted dmc against the fanbase wishes, mvci is a fukking abomination, and if it wasn't for the last resi they would have ran that shyt into the ground
I think a lot has to do with titles not selling, development of games take a lot of time money and manpower, and nobody proposing a good enough idea for a dormant IP.

As far as Resident Evil, RE6 was it's highest selling title and they could've easily kept on the same path but creatively they took a gamble with 7 to bring it closer to the series' roots. In my opinion that is a good sign and I don't think too many companies would make that decision.

DmC sold well and had good reviews :yeshrug:
Capcom got the next Devil May Cry developed in-house and from the rumors it sounds dope and got game hype
