Well, in the late 90's there would at least be a competent President overseeing the response so things could be better sooner instead of this orange fukkboy that's currently in the White House.

Came in to say this. People are selfish as fukk but the government's pathetic response to this is one of the big reasons why shyt is so fukked.

People were less arrogant, and I doubt the TV deals were as massive as the current one. Doubt they would be even allowed to have events.

I feel like the internet didnt really become as essential as it did until the 2000s after dial up connection stopped being a thing

He meant social media and not the internet. Those internet chat rooms of the late 90s completely pale in comparison to social media usage today.

pro wrestling had a much stronger presence on the '90s-early/mid '00s internet than it does on social media.

so regardless of what he meant, its still a bad take whichever way you slice it.

only thing this era has going for it, is the easier access to non-televised stuff......which wouldnt even count towards ole bul's argument because he supposedly meant "social media" and not the internet.

Wrestling had a much stronger presence back then but with still not the access of today. You can accidentally be flooded with obscure indie promotions info today. That wasn’t the case back then. Even with the internet, back then, that info still wasn’t moving nearly as fast as it does right now. PWI magazine (and WOW magazine later) were still the go-to things for wrestling. Smarky no-it-all stuff was legit insider then as well, and not the standard it is currently.

ehh

those mags were already taking a hit from the internet all the way back then.

and those were the mags that were able to survive, but theres alot of other mags that were killed off by that point.

For me I didn't have dial up untill late 98/99 and I had siblings so when my parents went grocery shopping hitting the magizine stand was a must to check out wow, and pwi. Plus waiting 2-5 minutes for page to load was wack.
