Not sure why the NFL is obsessed with globalizing a game that it's pretty apparent the rest of the globe isn't interested in. They tried the NFL Europe thing...failed. They keep playing games in London...still no traction.

They'd be much better off trying to spread the game south rather than across the Ocean. There's been at least some traction in Mexico and central America.

Honestly the NFL is such an omni-present part of American culture at this point I don't know the purpose of making it global. The money is more than enough...there's franchises in the NFL worth as much as global brand soccer franchised which is astounding and kind of absurd when you really think about it.

If anything keeping it strictly an American thing almost makes more sense. It's so present in our society that in many parts of the country watching football is considered American and not watching it marks you as a typical and weirdly un-American. Which is also a bizarre way to have people react to a sport. But it's how things have evolved. And every time I think we've hit the height of the sport's popularity and this has to be the plateau the NFL goes and sets new viewership highs.

So really...why go to the Olympics? There's a chance that could in some weird way hurt the sport and make it lose this weird cultural American-ness that's developed.

you're right, but you're questioning the logic of a bunch of morons that lucked into billions and will literally destroy other people to keep it

Love
Over the holidays. Me and my fam got together. And I hit them with this topic.

If Football (the real football..) was an Olympic Sport, who would really fukk with us ? England, Russia, Japan, New Zealand ?

shyt would be funny to watch the USA play a country like Thailand :russ:

Anyhow...here's where the debate comes in. If the USA roster was 2-deep at every position....who do you think should be representing ? Here's my list: (debatable)

OFFENSE
QB - Rodgers, Brady/Cam ?
RB - AP, Lynch
WR - Megatron , AJ Green, Thomas (den), Julio/Antonio Brown/ODBjr ?
TE - Gronk, Gates ?
LT - Joe Thomas, Tyron Smith
LG - Kyle Long, Martin (dal)
C - Mangold, Pouncey (pit...always hurt) ?
RG - Decastro (pit), Yanda (bal)
RT - Bulaga, Lane Johnson (phi)

DEFENSE (4-3)
DE - Watt, Michael Bennet, Peppers (gb), Griffin (vikes) ?
DT - Wilkerson (nyj), Suh, Aaron Donald (rams), Geno Atkins ?
OLB - Von Miller, Mack (oak), Clay Matthews, Chandler Jones (ne) ?
MLB - Keuchle, Bowman (sf)
CB - Revis, Norman (car), Sherman, Talib/Peters (kc) ?
S - Earl Thomas, Honey Badger, Berry (kc), Harrison Smith (min) ?

shyt would be fun to watch. Who really fukkin with us ?
You're stupid on so many levels

  1. First of all the "real football" is what you call Soccer in America. It's been around longer and got its name before american football came around
  2. 2nd, how the fukk are you gonna play Russia when they dont play football there. Football as an olympic sport would barely have the U.S.A. and Canada as countries that can actually field a team together and Canada would be struggling because most of their players are American.

But you and your fam seem to live in your own little worlds go ahead and fantasize all you want :smugdraper:
