I am sure HBK would adjust, but he wouldn't be the champion because of Hogan hold on the company. Plus as well, HBK's style is a bit more uptempo, and it would be a bit awkward to a degree as WCW was a bit slower.

He would've fit in just fine wrestling Jericho, Benoit, Guerrero, Malenko, Rey and DDP. But his ego at the time probably wouldn't allow himself to work with them since they were lower on the card. He probably would've rehashed the feud with Scott Hall & had the feud with Macho Man that they wanted to do in the mid-90's. He'd probably also reunite with Nash and have a run with the tag titles.

But more importantly, I don't think the WCW crowd would've fukked with him at all.

If WCW got HBK they would quite obviously put him in nWo immediately, and hopefully it would've saved Syxx' job. They would've made him seem like a big deal like they did bret hart, but HBK would've actually added to creative and it would've led to a much more focused and stronger nWo
