What happened to the DJ album/mixtape?

Majority of those albums were never that good

Drama’s first album wasn’t bad.


Gangsta Grillz the Album Vol. 1 felt more like DJ Drama tape.

I played the hell out of that from 2007-2010.

The second one was meh.

nah that's for mixtapes, he's talking studio albums. Funk Flex, Clue, Envy, Drama, Khaled, Tony Touch, Statik Selektah all had albums.

In that case record labels just abandoned that idea
