The ultimate fighter on spike an I think they were showing all the first UFC events when Gracie was fukking up big ass dudes. No weight classes iirc. I was like ppl actually do this shyt. Then watched Anderson, GSP, and Liddell fight and I was hooked.

As a kid, my godfather used to host big bbq's for Chavez fights, or whatever big fight there was. He'd bring the big screen to the yard so we all can watch. He used to do it for a while and then he got jaded of the corruption in boxing. I still watch all the fights and we still talk after the big matches. Love that man.

Started off watching tapes of Sugar Ray Leonard, Aaron Pryor, Arguello, Hearns, Duran etc... Being Mexican of course JCC Sr. was an icon, I vividly remember Tyson's rise. As far as MMA I been watching since the inaugural UFC when there were no rules.

A guy I worked with who was older than me knew I was in to WWF, and I was a shamrock fan...so around 98/99 he had me come over and show me the first UFC where Royce beat Ken....been hooked ever since...with boxing it was kinda just liking Mike Tyson, and this was the older Mike, not the mike that fought in the 80s...post Jail mike...bar down the street would broadcast all his fights, and since I knew some of the dishwashers at the bar, they let me in when I was 14/15.

Watching all the hype surrounding Mike Tyson from the media but especially what my family and dad's friends were talking. Nintendo being something brand new and viral amongst kids with Mike Tyson's Punch Out being one of the best games and a flagship at the time added into everything also.
