That area in and around UVA and VT is the most racist area of America I've ever visited.:hhh:
I wouldn't even stop to get gas anywhere outside of nova, Richmond or the 757 area :mjpls:

va is very similar to pa outside of the major cities (philly and Pittsburgh) nothing but woods, rednecks and pickup trucks.

I would like to know as well. I've only been twice. Once I don't remember bc I was little girl. The other was a few years ago for someone's funeral.

I'll probably be going back to visit family maybe next summer. What is it so do down there outside of going to the beach?

That's just it about NOVA...the hodgepodge of spillovers from DC IS its identity. That what it is known for.

And if Hampton Roads acted as more of a solid cohesive unit, the whole area would pop more.
Cant be any more true here. The seven cities just don't want to work together and make the area pop. Norfolk is the most progressive and usually start shyt but very limited with land, property owners for certain areas not local, lower income than Va Beach, and being an older city with older infrastructure. Va Beach is now progressing but it has the higher income areas, resort area/beaches, and the land to grow. Chesapeake and Va Beach used to be counties so they have the land size of big counties so that's why those areas grown so much but still seem very rural in certain parts (especially Chesapeake). Portsmouth is like Norfolk when it comes to being urban cities with older infrastructure and being limited in land size.

But ur right...like the Norfolk light rail issue...if other cities like Va Beach can collaborate....757 could really pop off more.

Well said. Losing potential money and national and regional stature over stubbornness.

Would you call it stubbornness?

Or ignorance?
Both but more ignorance. For example, some Va Beach folks don't want the "hood" Norfolk folks to come to their Town Center and Oceanfront. That's one reason why some in Va Beach don't want to extend light rail. However, I do think Norfolk should've made it go to the Naval Base and Airpoirt in their initial plans to give them incentive.
