Wizard of oz was a flop in its day tho. It gained its status through constantly being on tv for generation after generation
Superman (1978): birthed the comic book/superhero movie as a viable major motion picture property
Jaws, Jurrasic Park, Terminator 2, or Avatar. Those films all made major impacts technically, which is the biggest way to impact the industry, imo. The Matrix is up there too
