I really don't get the point discount theaters in the streaming era. The movies they get are already on streaming/vod by the time they play them

its a bigger screen, better sound and you can meet up with friends and catch a movie. unless you wanna invite 8 people over to watch a movie on the fire stick

Cinemas will always be around. Some movies you just have to watch on the big screen in IMAX and it's the social aspect too.

theaters will be like restaurants. only super cheap or upscale joints will survive

all them amc joints will die off slowly. it will be 3$ cheap theaters that play movies 2 months after they come out and expensive 30 dollar a ticket spots that serve food and alcohol in recliner seats
AMC is already doing this at certain ones
Movie theatres are still packed. The last two movies I saw - Lion King and Hobbs & Shaw - were watched a month after their release, and it was still full in there.
One is a kids movie and the other is part of a blockbuster franchise. Like a breh upthread said these will probably be the only types of movies in theaters in the future.

You can’t replicate the theater experience at home, it’ll never go away. I’ve had the best experiences watching movies in theaters.

Yup. Watch a movie in theatre then watch that same movie at home later...makes a huge difference.

Breh, I saw The Intruder and Ma in theaters recently and people showed out for both of them :stopitslime:

Theaters aren’t going anywhere. That experience can make a bad movie decent.
Precisely.

Theaters will survive always. Streaming wars are going to give a wake-up call to a whole bunch of parties thinking their backlogs are legit. Wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of them combine in package deals within a year.

Theaters will always survive. You just can't replicate the movie-going experience. TV didn't do it, home video didn't do it, cable didn't do it, streaming wars won't change that. Even with those folks with the home theater set-up, they still can't replicate the movie-going experience.

As for the television, cable is still very valuable. A lot of the young are really underestimating the value and profitability of live television. Plus with all of the streaming services, they're really just have y'all paying the bill they get for licensing their channels to cable companies. And if you only had streaming services, you really would end up paying cable prices, in which you already get access to some streaming services.

With the Streaming Wars, they're definitely gonna end up putting caps on the amount of content you can stream, restrictions on what you have access to, AND add in pricing tiers.

I agree with top part. But fukk cable. shyt quality. At least with streaming you can get free trials or only pay for a month if there's a show you want to watch.

THEATERS HERE TO STAY, BUT LIKE SOME1 ELSE SAID, ALL THEATERS WILL EVENTUALLY NEED TO UPGRADE TO RECLINERS + GOURMET FOOD.

AFTER BEIN SPOILED WIT NOTHING BUT RECLINER THEATERS FOR THE PAST YEAR, I WENT TO AN AMC WIT NO RECLINERS A COUPLE MONTHS AGO AND IT WASNT THE SAME. ALMOST FELT LIKE A CHORE TO SIT IN A REGULAR ASS SEAT. RECLINERS TAKIN OVER.

CABLE IS STILL DOPE TOO .. I PREFER TO FLIP THROUGH SHIIT THATS ALREADY ON AS OPPOSED TO PICKING A SHOW, WHICH SOMETIMES TAKES A GANGA TIME IN & OF ITSELF.

BUT I DO SEE CABLE DYING A SLOW DEATH.. EITHER THAT OR CATS GUNA BE GETTIN IT FOR DIRT CHEAP ONCE STREAMING GETS EVEN BIGGER.
