But I'm still boxing. I got a fight in 12 days :lupe:
are you just looking for a part time gig to hold you over while you build your boxing career? like i said earlier. the jobs you should be applying for wont require any lying. just say you were really focused on boxing, but now you need to earn income while you continue boxing. unless you are trying to be a director of marketing or something, i cant imagine you need any more explanation that that. just list any skills you have that might be applicable to the job, and detail what you did with your time in terms of training for boxing. a lot of gymnasts and swimmers have to grow up and get real jobs eventually, and they do it just by mentioning what they did with their time. boxing is no different.

This is a good way to go. Any gaps in employment makes employers a little uncomfortable because they don't know if you were in jail, sick or homeless.

Also, a lot of professors are telling freshmans to set up a corporation and have their friends set a corporation, get a cheap 1-800 number from Vonage, and now you have a corporation that has been around for many years.

Employers will never go beyond a phone call, if that. Because in 2013 they still believe no one lies on their resumes.

I don't want to dry snitch on the internet, so I'll just say the possibilities are endless.

listing freelance work is another one of those tricks you can rely on to pad a resume :scheme:

but you still have to have the skill, of course

Yeah, pretty much anything to keep you from starting at the bottom at a low paying entry level position, because it will take you forever to get a promotion sometimes 5 years or more if you can't get hired in a more senior position.

We all know execution is more important than skill or talent, most college grads can handle it, its just that employers are trying to pay people $11.88/hour for a job that used to pay $34K/year. It would be foolish if anyone plays the game straight up, because in this economy the "haves" are not playing fair.

Another trick, at the interview talk like a manager instead of a worker. If they say what is your biggest weakness, say you micromanage and hate when things don't get done on time. Strengths would be some nonsense about how you like to mentor, are patient with people and stay dedicated to whatever you are doing. At that point the boss will look at you as someone who will make his life easier.

I had a 5 year hiatus and used this internship as a filler..if you helped parents joined any organizations done any community service add it to fill the long void..say you were in school and had a family obligation..taking sick grand parents to doc appointments etc.
