I prefer Reason because it gives you the old hardware studio feeling. Also the mix from Reason sound fuller to me :manny: or maybe it's just that I been using propellerhead products for over 15 years.

The way they set-up the daw in reason just connects with me. Feels more hands on, like your connecting hardware instead of routing to plugins.

Then there's the lack of vst, so you have to learn how to use and combine thor. Then there's no drag and drop so you cant just swap out drums, you have to know what you want to use. Then for the longest time there was no spectrum EQ and so on and so on. Basically I had to work harder which made me learn more.
all that stuff seems like it hinders workflow and might stifle creativity

I use FL to put it all together but I still process (read: STEAL) drums in Goldwave and record on Cool Edit Pro 2.0

I got into this shyt in the late 90s, I like my old tools :old: I remember putting drum loops together on Goldwave... take a hi hat, calculate the time for BPM, mix drums over it, mix everything in some old POS software, record on CEP

Only effects I might have messed with were some echo on my vocals and EQ... those were the days :mjcry:

got my chops on EPS16+ rack version,S950 and the old monochromatic Cubase.A friend introduced me to Reason 2 and I hated it at first cause I learned to make beats on dedicated hardware and sequence on an Atari run Cubase.Once I got familiar with it,I never looked back.I am at Reason 7 right now but my favourite versions where 3 and 5.Used FL,Sonar,Nuendo and tried Ableton for a minute but the way Reason approaches a hard ware situation and kinda forces you to work like that, suited me better. I use Reason with an AW 16G when I want to add live instruments and vocals cause the mixdown on a outboard DAW like an AW1600/AW 16G or D16 makes the music sound way better then mixdown in Reason or mastering in Wavelab imo.

I make most of the beat in Maschine, then when I like something enough to arrange it, I'll dump it in Ableton and try to freak the arrangement into something evolving.
