I'll pose this question.
Let's take the political process out of the equation.
What method will we use to bring reparations about?

We are literally the only people who sit back, and expect things to change. Everyone else is involved in their local politics, which is why they get stuff, and we don’t. If you don’t like the candidates, get a group together, and fund one, or put money in their pockets. Or…RUN FOR OFFICE YOURSELF.

But no. We do nothing, and expect things to fall in our laps. Then, we have the nerve to complain about the policies. Somebody is getting into office regardless of your vote. You will be affected regardless of your vote.

There are tons of government grants available for minorities, but because they don’t say “black specifically”, we go,

THEY DON’T HAVE ANYTHING FOR US!!

:damn:

:dahell:
Are we not minorities? All the other minorities are cashing in, yet we sit around, and stay mad. Newsflash, they live here, work, and pay taxes too. AND, because they participate in local politics, and fund their local politicians, THEY GET STUFF. They put the effort into applying for the grants so…THEY GET STUFF.

:krs:

Even in majority black cities with black leadership, the leadership is so incompetent, and corrupt, yet they keep getting elected..why…

Because SOMEBODY VOTED FOR THEM, AND NOT THE OTHER PERSON WHO COULD DO A BETTER JOB

:mjtf:

That minorities shyt is a fukking hustle.. You nikkas didn't learn from Affirmative action? :gucci:

i was part of this crew in my early 20s trying to increase black voter turnout. we had this session where we looked at a maps of the wealth and corresponding turnout. the lighter the blue, the more wealth/turnout. the darker the blue, the less.

fam... ALL the black zipcodes were dark blue :snoop: we ALREADY don't vote. i'll never understand this campaign to decrease the turnout even more.
you b*stards wanna operate like they don't already expect a low turnout from us but i'm telling you, they ANTICIPATE it  you're not as "slick" as you think.

I think that could work if, for example...

All Blacks support a candidate in the primaries that offered Reparations, for instance.

And abstained for voting for the nominee if that candidate doesn't win.

That sends a clear message as to what is wanted.

The downside is that the other party that definitely won't give reparations will win. Or the party you're currently trying to reform decides to move on without you because Reparations is a losing issue nationally.

That's just one example of how this could go down
Right and this is the issue the ones witout nefarious intentions that are just very politically ignorant and naïve don’t seem to understand. The GOP will not sit stagnantly, while in power and allow black folks to start back at one when democrats learn their lesson. They always aggressively try to change the laws and make it harder for blacks to have political power. This strategy is akin to instead of getting Stitches in your hand for a deep cut, telling the doctor to just cut your arm off from the shoulder:francis:

I said I didn't want to argue but here you go.
I'm gonna let the rhetoric slide and ask you to elaborate on reason number 3.
How does wihthholding the vote lead to self reliance and empowerment for Black people exactly?

Because it’s so fukking obvious what you tryna do, don’t play them games nikka

A better question to ask is…What HAS voting over the last 5+ decades gained for us? And when I say us, I STRICTLY mean the Foundational Black Americans who are descendants of slaves and American Aboriginals in the U.S.A. So let’s not try any funny business with this shyt.

There are people who are genuinely frustrated with the system and I can completely understand the sentiment cause after they fukked Bernie I said I wasn’t going to vote out of anger and frustration.

But the idea of giving the Republicans free reign over the government is a frightening proposition.

What's worse is giving free reign to anyone that blatantly tells you they're doing nothing specifically for fba, and watching the same administration give to other groups without batting an eye lash.

If Republicans had their way they would cut social security, Medicaid, Medicare and social safety net, Federal spending on public schools, financial aid for higher education etc.

There would be gnashing of teeth from the same people telling us not to vote.

Not voting is worth the risk, to force any suitors into doing our bidding. Them twos and fews they've been giving, shouldn't be enough to control us and allow them to keep disrespecting our vote.
