No one could name a tangible benefit we gain from bowing out of the political process.
Here's the problem: You can't bow out of a situation that will continue to affect you directly regardless of your level of activity.
It just means you're a passive participant rather than an active one.

The underlying issues are:
1) Most Americans don't understand politics or political strategy. Black folks especially.
2) Rather than educating ourselves, people like to parrot things we hear elsewhere that sound logical to mask our lack of knowledge on the topic.
3) Most people do not practice critical thinking.

Critical thinking and understanding nuance is key to navigating topics and situations that can be complex and contain many nuances.
People tend to simplify by finding an ideology about a subject and subscribe to that ideology wholesale rather than forming their own ideology based on fact based knowledge and comprehension of those facts.
This leads to a black and white or all for or all against perspective that ignores the complexities of a situation.
