What do Black people GAIN from NOT voting?

Respect. The vote is no longer a given, meaning that they will have to pander to the black base like they pander to other fickle bases such as the hispanic vote, moderate white vote, asian vote etc.


Obviously its a long term strategy tho. Its a given that you must give up the benefits you currently have to gain more in the future. I think the big disagreement in the vote vs no-vote debate is that the vote brigade typically see(s) the immediate losses as opposed to the future gains.

This is untrue. We get, quite a lot, actually.

Black politicians have a lot of influence to make sure we're accounted for and direct local dollars to black interests.

They already pander to us with dancing, soul food giveaways, Black church appearances and other superficial bullshyt gestures.
Why do we want to be further pandered to when they already pander to us?
If we've made up our minds to not give them what they want (votes), what incentive do they have to respect us?
They'll just take their pandering to poor cacs, Asians, Latinos, and LGBT.

The question is what do we gain from withdrawing from the political process?
Using your example, if you withdrew from the process of car ownership, does that get you efficient transport equal or superior to owning your own vehicle?

I'll give you a better example. In the 1960s, alabama public transit users chose not to take the busses. They obviously faced an immediate loss in the form of no transport, but they gained concessions from the whites in montgomery afterwards; which yeilded more benefits to the black population than they would have had with the original status quo. The white ownership class began to respect the black people that previously supported their institutions once their support was no longer a given.

Well the idea is that you have a political agenda and vote for the politician that most closely aligns to your political agenda. The only thing voting for a politician that is not aligning with your political agenda communicates is that you aren't serious about your political agenda and will just go along with things anyway because you have been properly programmed into doing such. By not voting and being vocal about it you show people you are serious about your agenda and create incentive for a politician looking for votes to go after yours by including some of your agenda into theirs. And then that is who you go and vote for.

The way you talk is hostile "If I wanted to roast y'all" That has already been tried and failed.

At the local level, Black votes have more power. It's harder to ignore our issues, so they have to bring something to the table. Plus there are measures to vote on even if all the candidates suck.
