What direction do you think Dre will go in musically after Missionary? And what direction would you prefer him to go?

Missionary was a huge disappointment.

I really enjoyed Compton on release. It had some great tracks but i have to admit that I would struggle to listen all the way through today. There’s something off about it as a cohesive project.

For me, personally, I’d like to see him ditch any large production staff and just make beats hands-on. We know he can do it as he did so in the NWA days and (possibly to a lesser extent as it was more collaborative) the Death Row days. Or at least he could go back to using Focus and them. I’m not saying he can repeat any of that, just move into the correct lane again.

I think he needs to be humble and understand that he‘s only great when he plays to his strengths. I wonder if he realises this now.

What I THINK he’ll do. Double down and do what Jimmy tells him to do. Not sure exactly what that entails though.

Or he tries to go for a bigger RnB sound while doing smaller projects that he wants to do for himself.

What‘s your take?

I'm perfectly fine with Missionary, and I liked Compton pretty well too. Honestly though, I'm not sure I care much what Dre does beyond this. If I get something new from him cool, if not? :manny: He's so inconsistent with his output that I guess I just got over it.

What?! :mjlol:

Man it’s over

The shelf life for being a gangsta rapper is short as hell and we’ve seen when he’s tried to pivot and do some different shyt (Dr. Dre Presents Aftermath) it’s been wack as hell

He’d look like a complete fool if he tried to make another album at 60 still talking all that gangsta shyt now. Add to the fact that as a producer he fell off a long time ago.

He needs to just fall back and count his paper at his point

Here’s a great spin off thread, what the last classic beat Dr. Dre produced?
