The bolded is false. His first single was this......

In-answer to OP, Rakim innovated extensive use of similes and metaphors along with internal rhymes.

EDIT: He wrote this when he was 14 years old.

FLOW

I have the luxury of not only listening to RAKIM ALLAH during his prime

But seeing him LIVE as well...

I remember first time hearing RAKIM

Was the SINGLE "MY MELODY" on a cassette recording of the RED ALERT SHOW from my cousin in Brooklyn who would send me tapes when I went down south for the summer...

:whew:

I was in AWE ....I would just stare at my boombox flabbergasted by the vocals of this man

never heard a tone of voice like that used in such a casual effortless delivery. .by the time he got to his "7 MC theory" I was convinced this dude wasn't even from our dimension

Flow is the number one skill a rapper must have.

All these morons talking about multis and lyricism and bars etc.... If your flow doesn't captivate, all that other shyt is so damn meaningless. Flow is by far the hardest thing to master as a rapper.

Ra is an extension/lab created version of Moe Dee and Caz. They had multies every so often, but Ra made it a style
