I had just been in Fort Bragg a couple of days and I was in the replacement barracks waiting to be assigned to a unit. I had went to the PX and bought It's Dark and Hell Is Hot, Doc's Da Name, and DJ Clue The Professional. I didn't know anybody there yet so I just listened to those cd's over and over on New Year's Eve in some shytty Korean War era barracks.
And of course they started playing the Prince song that night and didn't stop until NYE of 2000.

Backstreet Boys, N'Sync, and Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera were even bigger than Bizkit and Em.
I remember thinking at the time that music can't get worst than this and in a few years, "good" music would be back on the radio and BET/MTV.
Napster and MP3.com scaring the hell out of everybody in the music industry.
