What can WWE do to get this mainstream for a match/show?

It will never reach that level.

Hell..boxing/UFC are unlikely to reach that level again for a very long time. (Boxing needs some compelling heavies..I don't know enough about UFC to be able to tell why they appear to have a ceiling, maybe it just needs to be around longer?)

This shyt was historical...people waited years for it..two all time greats...two very opposing styles and personalities...some racist even tried to make it about "Good Versus Evil"..Mayweather/Pacman was a once in a generation type of thing.

However, can there still be giant, mainstream appeal, WWE matches? Sure. Not as big as this, but there can be huge ones.

It would take a combination of many things (No particular order) :

1) It will have to be during a boom period. Wrestling is niche right now.
2) Would have to be a result of good storytelling.
3) Two guys with massive star-power, that haven't fought before, and that are relatively fresh.

A bunch of other shyt....:yeshrug:

Right now the biggest match would probably be Brock/Rock. Even that would be dampened by the fact that they've wrestled before and the fact that both guys are already kinda cemented in the culture. Both bring in some mainstream coverage but I kinda feel like there is nothing "new" with that match. And considering that both would be part-time and satellite, storytelling/feuding would be kinda weak as well.

For that to happen they would need wrestlers (not part-timers/legends) who can cross over into the mainstream but are also on Raw every single week. And you'd need two of them, so big in the mainstream, with their feud being constantly worked in mainstream media, that people outside of the wrestling crowd start to get engaged by this.

Similar to how I don't give one flying fukk about boxing, yet the first thing I did this morning was check to see who won the MayPac fight of the mere strength of how big it was.

And the only guy they got right now who could pull that off, is Bryan.

Seriously. Everyone with sense, and anyone that was going to put down any real money knew Mayweather was going to win that fight. Most people that have seen them fight before knew what the deal was:sas1:. People got suckered in with all the hype and publicity it got. When you really look at this match it has a lot of parallels to what we see in wrestling. nikkas cutting promos on each other, extravagant entrances occupied by celebrities, pac being played up as the face, and Mayweather being played up as the typical over confident heel. Sounds like WWE to me. :sas2:

I honestly can't see it, mainly due to the nature of pro wrestling. They would have to change a ton of things and I can't see anyone with power in that company conceding to errors in the presentation of their brand.

Plus this shyt was hyped for damn near seven years. Floyd (and Manny to some extent) aren't micromanaged on every detail in regards to how they present themselves.

Closest they get is Rock v Lesnar (Hollywood/UFC interest) or maybe Rock v Austin (Nostalgia pops for everyone :blessed:). I don't know if Vince has the patience or capability anymore to 'make' someone who is bigger than the business, without getting bored at some point and burying them for his own amusement.

They've made their entire main roster outside Seth and Roman pretty much an after thought.
