Dare is a dark side is just a masterpiece. Lightning in a bottle. It feels like one cohesive act 1 to me. To this day I barely know the individual song names. I just play the entire album through. Funny enough red doesn't like this album as he said it represents a dark period of his life.
Nonetheless I would have loved to see the recording of this masterpiece

Yeah it’s one of those albums that truly defines a moment in time in the artist’s life and can never be duplicated

Red said he was on acid and pcp when he made the album

Quick question

Am I the only one who thinks Redman at the peak of creativity, was on the same level as Biggie?

Biggie is my number 1 all time favorite, THE GOAT.

but bar for bar, lyric for lyric, verse for verse, am i the only one who thinks Red could hang with Biggie in his prime?

Cause Biggie was a hardcore emcee like Red too, Puff just helped smooth out the edges and suggested he do the club records, which worked and all.

But if you look at Big at his core as an emcee, like on some straight up street records and freestyles, I would say Redman was on his same wave length

and Redman is in my top 5 of all time

Yes, 10/10 times. Easily his best album. ZERO bad tracks. ZERO bad bars. Red at his zenith.

Definitely.

Muddy Waters is usually the one people go with when they didn't hear the first two albums first. Red was easily my favorite MC from like '92-'98. But what I noticed was that he started getting more comedic and that hardcore edge that made the first couple albums so dope, was gone. That's when the music started to slip, to me. Muddy Waters was kinda when that started. And I still love the album, but it wasn't a straight listen for me like the first two joints.

He was at his peak on DIAD. Lyrically, very few could see Red around '94-'95. He was murdering everything he hopped on during that run.

B.I.G. is my GOAT too, along with KRS. I always said Red was right there with B.I.G. from '94-'96. Here's an example of that. A joint they were on together, that I still bump mad often.

You get it! :myman:

Yeah, right around that period, I feel like he was on BIG’s level; Red was a damn beast and tearing beats to shreds during that period, just like BIG.

Man that was such a great time in hip hop

Points is such a great song, I miss the rawness like this song that hip hop use to have :mjcry:

One of my favorite albums of all time. Picking 5 doesn't even make sense, cuz you have to listen to the entire thing if you're going to play anything from it. I'm going to try though.
