Thinking of upgrading from my iPhone 6, the phone itself is fine and I wouldn’t mind keeping it but I feel like it’s sluggish.

It’s...great. Grabbed one for my wife recently, upgrading from the 6 as well.
It has the same processor as the high-end iPhones, wireless charging, Home Button/Touch ID (which I prefer over FaceID)
128GB model was only $450.
The only things you’re “missing” are FaceID and the extra cameras.

How was the speed compared to the 6?
Speed shouldn't be an issue, it has the same A13 that the Pro series uses.
After using notch/punchout phones or any new phone after 2017, I'm sure as hell not going back to 4 inch screens with fat bezels in almost 2021. But if you're still on a 6 and it works for you, you should be happy. Newer battery, better performance, upgraded camera, I'd do it.

Significantly faster. You’re talking what...five years of processor improvements?
Touch ID processor is faster too for faster logins, purchases, etc...
