I used to be a huge Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth fan when i was around 20.
I think Smooth has 1 of the best flows of all times. That dude just sounds nice on the mic.
While Pete Rock has a really dope deep voice.
I love this music from the beats to the rhymes. I believe younger people will still discover music like this in the next 30 years.
Pete Rock really put work in those beats.
Pete Rock took Hip-Hop production to a whole higher level. I know Prem's beats are just as dope but i don't believe Prem could make such an interesting instrumental album like Petestrumentals like Pete had in 2001. Petestumentals 2 had really fire joints on it to, the drums just weren't sampled by himself anymore i think. But that album was really dope to. I even think his Wishing On A Star was just almost as good as the Trackmasters version for Jay-Z. The Trackmaster version was a little more sad but Pete's version was a little more funky.
But Prem defined what Hip-Hop should sound like and he made Moment Of Truth which is 1 of my favorite Hip-Hop albums of all time. Some people say Guru wasn't a great rapper but that guy sounded incredible to me. He had 1 of the best voices in rap i think.
