I think a LOT is going to change once they start doing a weekly show and start doing real work. We're not going to see the "real" AEW until 2020, I'm sure. But going off of the two shows they've had and their two weekly YouTube shows...

Pros:
- Kenny Omega. Best Bout Machine. :manny:

- Jon Moxley. Brings a lot of eyes to the product and adds an even bigger shot of credibility than Jericho did.

- A roster of almost entirely young unknowns. This is how you start a new promotion. A handful of name guys on top with a mid-card full of quality unknown (to the mainstream) talent. I've seen comments on here along the lines of "lol who are these guys" but I don't see anything wrong with it. It's a new company with a lot of new faces. No preconceived notions about who someone is or what someone can/can't do or them being a failure or reject from somewhere else when you're working with unknowns.

- A legit tag team division that will be treated just as important as the heavyweight division. Bucks, Luchas, SCU, Angelico & Evans, Best Friends, Private Party, possibly LAX... :wow: They better give us that Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus team, too. WCW had the cruiserweights, TNA had the X-Division... the tag division could be AEW's calling card.

Cons:
- Pushing Hangman Page. I think Page is great, but he's the least over member of the Elite crew and I think they might have a potential Roman Reigns situation on their hands by putting him on top so soon.

- No partnership with NJPW. I think both companies would benefit GREATLY from making this happen.

- I'm kinda worried about the comedy factor. 'The Road to...' series on Cody's YouTube channel shows they can do amazing promos and video packages for ANYONE on their roster but these guys are known for their sense of humor. Tony Khan has said he doesn't want to focus on comedy, but I have a feeling (and I hope I'm wrong) that AEW won't be able to help themselves. That doesn't mean you can't have comedy. Wrestling is a variety show, but I hope it's toned down a lot from what they do on BTE. If it's kept mostly to the pre-shows though (like at Fyter Fest with the Librarians and the Nakazawa match), it could be fine.

- Nyla Rose. I just don't think it's going to work.

Pros-

TNT TV Deal and "New WCW" cred

Jericho, Ambrose, and Kenny Omega are all legit talent and clearly not rejects or unimportant to where they came from. Credible top guys.

High budget and money behind them

Wins and losses matter

Cons-

So much indy CACness

Not much focus on storylines. Wins and losses mattering is cool, but an 100% sport feel with few storylines isnt gonna be entertaining, especially when the guys dont look like actual top fighters or athletes and dont wrestle like its a competition or fight.

ts hard to present it as a sport that just happens to have fixed outcomes that make it more exciting, when one of your centerpieces is the Young Bucks, whose sh1t looks like a circus act and not sportlike

Half their guys you'd be surprised to find out they wrestle. This fits with the indy scene, but I don't want to watch just an indy with more money.

My only con is very subjective. I'm just not that into the style most of the big name guys from AEW like to work. Dustin vs Cody was fukking amazing but I still have my doubt they can pull off that kind of angle, story and match very often, specially because I don't see Dustin working regularly, sadly.

But as I've said before, this company is not aimed at me so they should just keep doing what has worked for them, at least for the first year or so of the TNT deal. Get their hardcore audience to be as faithful as possible and then see if they can get a broader audience :manny:

They seem to get how to interact with the press which the E hasn’t grasped somehow. Also, Kenny seems to have gotten better quality coke in America and he’ll probably be good again as a result. Nyla Rose will be a good monster heel IF they book her right. Bringing in CIMA was dope and if they bring in other Japanese talent from say DDT or NOAH or whatever it could be an interesting draw that sets them apart. Hell they could have Janela or Havoc go against some Big Japan people.

Cody... sucks at regular matches. He’s actually pretty decent when there’s some sort of spectacle involved but when he’s in a normal match with no stakes or story he’s buns, which... I mean that’s what most matches are.

The music sucks. Either pay the royalties or get Jim Johnston or even go on Bandcamp or Beatport and find some young talent with a following and commission some stuff. Create some new Jim Johnstons.

Pretty much this for me, they’re doing enough to differentiate themselves from WWE and it’s working. I’m not really feeling their comedy, it just comes off bad on TV, it’ll be fixed in due time I’m sure. Also, yeah the AEW fanboys are a problem, they really didn’t learn their fukkin lessons from TNA.
