Sony always revises it’s consoles. Every Sony console has had at least 1 revision.
The PS1 has 2 versions. So does the PS2. The PS3 has 3 versions and so does the PS4. Even the PSP has 4 versions and the Vita has 2.

They made it big to stop it from overheating and being loud... Same reason the OG Xbox One was so large

They had plenty of time to sort that , Just like the x-box one they know they can re-release it the size it should have been in the first place in a few years time just to make an easy buck

I think it is high. Isn’t there talk of Amd switching to a smaller Node in a few years?

plus part cost and manufacturing come down as time goes on. The pro and x are good ways to scale a product and squeeze more life out of it while keeping margins decent enough to make a profit.

Lastly, the gaming community seemed receptive to it so I doubt it’s a one off.

A slim model usually follows three years after the main launch. So fall 2023, but no later than fall 2024.
3 years from now would put us in the half way point of the gen, so if a pro launches it will be around the slim's launch.

Don't know if there will be a Pro, but probably... enough people I'm sure bought the PS4Pro
