Up to that ‘Mania, I thought Batista’s matches were kinda meh at best, but he was on his game that night and I think he knew it too and gave him a confidence boost because his matches got a lot better to me after.

Rock vs Austin at WM 19. In-ring wise it may not have been better than their previous two, but it was a final chapter for them and you felt that with the buildup. I’m a lot more nostalgic for that match than their others.

Always loved the triple threat hardcore title match from 17. Raven Vs Kane Vs Big show. Just a really fun match to watch. Also Steamboat Vs Savage might be one of the most underrated Wrestlemania matchs imo

Macho vs. Crush was decent at WMX. That's a great show.. watched most of it again the other day. Bret vs. Owen and Shawn vs. Razor Ladder Match are both 5 star matches to me..
Word? If there's any match from that era that I would call underrated, that wouldn't be it. That's one of the most acclaimed Mania matches ever.
Actually on the same show, there's a match that at the time was supposed to be Piper's final match against Adrian Adonis. It wasn't a workrate classic but for the 7-8 minutes it ran, it never slowed down as far as getting the fans into it. It was just nonstop '80s-type antics with an interesting surprise babyface turn at the end. Of course it wasn't Piper's last match but
Another one that was highly entertaining and doesnt get mentioned often is Hogan vs Bundy steel cage match at Mania II. II was mostly a bad show, but that match and Bulldogs vs Valentine & Beefcake were both fire.Also, Bret vs Piper at Mania 8 for the IC title, Benoit vs Angle at Mania 17, the second MITB at Mania 22, Edge vs Jericho at Mania 26, and I feel like Cesaro vs Rollins last year isn't gonna get its acclaim it should have.

It did have a big match feel. The grand entrances, the crowd reactions, the work involved in laying out the match and finish. That match is the one that truly cemented Cena as the top guy for that generation IMO. Yeah he beat JBL the year before, but JBL, that match, and the WWE title in general took a backseat to HHH/Batista and RAW’s world title. Cena beating HHH decisively in the main event clean by submission showed he belonged on top even if the crowd was already over him at that point

Eddie vs Rey at WM 21 was really crisp and a fun match and told a good underdog story
First MITB match at WM 21 was amazing with the build up to Benoit taking the most damage and eventually winning it but having it stolen from him by the ultimate opportunist
Kurt Angle vs Michaels at 21 is also rarely talked about.
Randy vs Undertaker at 21 too
I feel all of those matches were better than the main events at WM 21.
Edge vs Mick Foley at WM 22 as well is a great match that isn't talked about much.
Undertaker vs Batista was lowkey the most hyped and biggest match at WM 23 at the time but the WWE narrative seems to overlook it nowadays.
