Gimmick carries a bad connotation. But they were definitely personas.

They magnified their personalities - added to their art in a big way. Studying "The Chef", "Hov" and even "Thugger" would be extremely intelligent and provocative character building for a young wrestler.

:mjlol:Wu Tang being a gimmick.

More than just a song breh...ask Ma$e, Master P, and the dude that drew Mastah Killah wrong:merchant:.

@Riley Escobar
@Negrodamus
a gimmick =/= them being fake

RZA was inspired by martial arts films, meth was a wrestling fan and they sprinkled that on their music to form a persona. every rapper has a gimmick and thats not a bad thing.

come on breh. im not disrespecting wu tang.

this is exactly what i meant.

maybe "gimmick" isnt the correct word, but they definitely had a persona/character that were extensions of themselves.

i would never disrespect a legendary group like wu tang.

Labels aren't what they were 20 years ago, so they dictate who a rapper is and does far less than they used to. Most wrestlers gotta repress their personality and ability to fit Vince Mckahon story

  • Get a well-respected lawyer when signing contracts with specific wrestling companies.
  • Value brand outside the ring.
  • Grow balls and man the fu*k up.
  • Start another business venture while wrestling as you never know what could happen in future. Eva has done this and will probably do well compared to her former peers.

Wrestling DVDs arent the wave and they haven't been for a while. It's more of promotions fault but they should be dropped for free like mixtapes.

Also generating a buzz via social media.

Having the fans wanting to be apart of their movement. I saw my whole highschool wear chucks and get a blonde stripe cuz they wanted to be Taylor Gang.

Saw nikkas start wearing colorful shyt like Tyler cuz they wanted to be like OF.

Basically just aesthetics and marketing.
