The whole conflict between Sayaka vs Kyouko is interesting because Kyouko is someone that forces Sayaka to decide regarding her ideals. I guess it could be something that separates Madoka from Sayaka because she is willing to fight other Magical Girls who get in her way. While clearly Madoka would want to prevent them from fighting. Although it is interesting that Sayaka groups Sayaka & Homura together. While there is truth to both of them doing things for their self-interest. It feels like Kyouko doesn't want to expand magical energy if it isn't needed. Homura is still a mystery given how she is trying to prevent Madoka from becoming one.
I do like that Sayaka sticks to her ideals in her conversation with Kyuubey, but at the same time, Kyuubey keeps pressing on Madoka being a Magical Girl feels uncomfortable. Of course, as Kyuubey points out, Kyouko's style is why she is a stronger Magical Girl and Homura would rather have her protect the town than Sayaka. Though it does make me question who is Homura really?
I did love Madoka's conversation with her mother. Essentially, not being afraid to make mistakes. I think it is fair for Madoka to be overwhelmed with all that is happening. Though the key for her is to stand your ground and if you make a mistake, it isn't the end of the world. Of course, her mom doesn't know about magical girls and witches. Even beyond that, Madoka not being afraid to keep pushing forward is key.
Following that though we have a fukking dark twist. So the contract that. Kyuubey does essentially take the Magical Girls's soul and put it into a soul gem. This is something that even Kyouko didn't know about, but it seems Homura might have known this. Though the fact Kyuubey says all that it says and there is no remorse and sounds like it is doing these girls a favor is concerning. Is there any way to change it? Maybe this is what Homura was leading Madoka on about?
