Essential What Anime are you currently watching?

Sometimes it be like that. Everything can't get an 86 level adaptation. Stuff like Spy Classroom and Reign of the Seven Spellables is amazing fiction to read and trash anime. A Returner's Magic Should Be Special is another one great to read and the anime is mediocre.

The childhood arc in TBATE is tolerable but at that part it's struggling with being a Mushoku Tensei clone. The magic school arc is when it really improves and starts going its own way. If I had to guess the anime will get to the end of the magic school arc and stop. I don't expect another season.

Not saying ever scene needs to go full long monologue like a dumb WWE show but damn.

I’m on the fence with this, no show so far from this season really impressed me like that outside of Windbreaker and maybe FF, which I know will heat up

Yes. It has a very familiar vibe as Vinland Saga. Would strongly recommend as the writing & the themes it presents is extremely well done.
