I used to enjoy eyeshield21 until it became downright racist af. I heard its because the author went abroad and got his ass beat by a black guy.

Lmao i never heard that story. Dont misinterpret Panther tho, dude was a wholesome character and ended up being the best player in the series. Went to the league out of HS like Lebron. Yashahime Episode 2 confirms speculation Rumiko isn't writing the story. None of her usual tropes were there. That's a positive for progression since she loved to stall things with comedy and teasing. It's plausible for someone to hate original Inuyasha and like this.
New age rivalry between Setsuna and Moroha is fun. Not quite like Inuyasha and Sesshomaru - more playful, but restores a similar feeling.
Moroha is both more skilled and more likable than her father. Inuyasha was a grump (albeit for good reason), Moroha is just having fun out there.
Towa is an oddity Not like Sesshomaru, her rumored mother, the Higurashi family that raised her. Didn't get to see her sword abilities, but she does have hand to hand combat which is cool
Older Kohaku made an appearance. One of the better designs Rumiko has done for a guy, hopefully has a major role in the story.
The ending theme is growing on me. Now that it's clear that show is taking a different direction, makes sense for the music to change a bit too. Less sentimental more upbeat.
New age rivalry between Setsuna and Moroha is fun. Not quite like Inuyasha and Sesshomaru - more playful, but restores a similar feeling.

Given how protective Sesshomaru was of Rin, that does seem to be the case. At worst you'd expect to see Jaken chaperoning them if things were normal.
I read a post that pointed out the space in this shot
as if someone is supposed to be sitting next to them, but aren't seen by us. Maybe Sesshomaru and their mother were around, but the pearl made it so they can't remember them at all. That would make Towa's recollection of the event unreliable.
Yeah the main character sucks at casting magic but he can negate anything anybody else cast and knows where anybody is always and instantly knows what spell they're casting.
