95% of Yashahime episode one was an adaptation of the epilogue chapter. Used to reintroduce viewers to the show if they've forgotten about or don't know who the old cast was.
Can see that Sango, even after three kids (1 newborn), is still swinging that giant boomerang around like its a toy while riding a flaming demon tiger kitty through the sky. She continues to be the least wack character of the main group. Without his wind tunnel Miroku is kinda useless. Might wanna look into being a stay at a home father while Sango does the demon hunting.
Inuyasha is still Kagome's bytch, face planting the ground by command.
but, when they aren't mad at each other they're a borderline OP duo
OG Inuyasha used to have commercial break comedy skits. The new anime retained that tradition
OG Inuyasha had some of the best sentimental ending themes of all time. Yashahime ED is good. But imo not on the level of Dearest, Fukai Mori, Shinjitsu no Uta. Doesn't quite restore that feeling of nostalgia. Closer to the Final Act EDs.
Because the episode was 95% a recap, we still don't know what direction the show will take with the new characters. Basically nothing was shown about them that wasn't known from the preview so I'd consider this to be like an episode 0. Next episode will be telling just how little Rumiko is involved in the project, based on how the characters interact with each other. Her style is easily identifiable.
Not much in terms of stitches as there weren't many good panning shots. Probably the best one was Inuyasha and Kags sitting together in the grass, copied 1:1 from the manga -
