Lupin the 3rd so good man, truly doesnt get the due it deserves and how it paved the way

It's very fun to watch in 2020. The heists are creative even though you know Lupin is gonna figure his way out of trouble, the way he does it has surprised me everytime. His crew is full of killers that anime has apparently been copying forever. Thought maybe it would be too dated to enjoy but the version I'm watching is a 1080p remaster so it doesn't even look terrible. two thumbs up.

I know there are so many different types of adapted series. I've watched a few episodes from the original, a couple movies and seen a few of the 2015 edition. I love the fact that most of our favorite "cool "detective type MC's all take aspects from him or the show in some way from bebop to countless others

Rewatching The Big 0 & wanted to know your guys thoughts

going to watch the rest of series one and then the castle of cagliostro, maybe the Fujiko Mine season, then probably stop there because you could really watch nothing but Lupin for a whole year it feels like.

Big O is something else I want to get through. All I know is that is takes after batman.

Haven't seen that one, but to me this is a problem with a lot of shows. They create a false sense of high stakes and everybody comes out ok on the other side. Give them some consequences, make us feel like :whoa:. Only show that comes to mind that had me legitimately on edge like that was Shinsekai Yori. It's what made me disappointed with Kakegurui. Fake high stakes wagers.

I think guys like you & I love the retro aspect of shows but i do think its timeless the actually plot & heists. I know toonami ran the '15 version of Lupin and it was very well done so the new age can get along with it if they wanted to.

Yea Big 0 was one of those mid 2000 toonami shows, you caught as a kid but only cared about DBZ. Looking at it now just like with others shows back then, had depth to it. Its pretty much Batman, Roger Smith a very cool detective, smooth detective, even has a no guns policy.

Once you get past the cheese, and the repetitive nature that a Giant robot fight has to happen, it has nice plot to it, with classicism, human nature etc

I agree if the show is trying to be serious only to undercut itself in the end. I mean that's a flaw of DBZ giving characters emotional send offs only for it to not really matter later on. Bleach reviving Ichigo twice in the same arc because Ulquiorra isn't allowed to kill him.

Lupin is comedy for the most part so you're supposed to sit back and observe how he manages to get out of dire situations using off the wall methods. Everything Lupin does he does it with style too, so it's not just a matter of coming out on top but doing so in the flashiest manner possible that embarasses his adversary. It works for the show.

SSY was pretty good at that post timeskip, been meaning to rewatch that. Also a lot of sports anime like Ippo, Kuroko where someone has to lose and both sides are likable in some way.

I know theres some kind of twist in there. Vaguely remember watching one of the final episodes where that gets revealed. I'll be watching it to see what thats about.

I went back through Big O about a year ago. I don't know if it was nostalgia or what, but I was loving it. The second season was hit or miss though.

I always wanted a bigger role for Dorothy throughout the series.

The concept of the Megadeus fukked me all up though. This picture is unsettling if I look at it too long :pachaha:

Big O is one of the few shows that got WEIGHT down well (when it wanted to). When the hammer dropped on someone it was just :wow:

Pacific Rim took bits and pieces. It'll hop out at you on a rewatch.

The show wasn't perfect and I thought the second season in particular was just lost in itself in more ways than one. Still a good run though.

The only thing it seemed to get wrong was scale. Sometimes they seemed 4 or 5 stories tall, other times they seemed like twice that. And Norman was moving Big O around by train :picard:?
