I'm not ashamed to say it. Gurren Lagann saved my life.

That show is legendary. I re-watched it for the first time in ten years, and it's every bit as great as I remember. It's a must-watch for everyone. If you want encouragement or motivation to become somebody amazing... This is it. :wow:

Be stuck on 1 season and never know what happens breh
Be stuck on season 1 or 2 and wait several years later to see what happens breh
Drop a anime and find out source material is fire but studio fukked it up with piss poor pacing, shytty quality and leave out key things breh

Nisekoi fans especially gotta feel burned by this. :heh: Only two seasons and never looked back. I had to read the manga for that, and I'm glad I did. It's not the greatest series in that kind of genre and it's not the most unpredictable either, but it would've been a cool watch if they'd have made more episodes.

I feel like the third sentence is directed specifically to Boruto though. :mjlol: The manga is way better than the anime. They wanted to flesh out the character development considerably, but instead, they just made things worse to where most people don't wanna watch it. But the manga is fire.

On another note, with the whole controversy of Interspecies Reviewers going on, I finally started watching the anime and... It's not THAT bad. :heh: This anime is literally what most brehs would think about at the back of their heads when watching an Isekai. Or even placing themselves in that situation. If Funimation hadn't cancelled it, it would've been one of those "This is an entertaining watch, and it's unique, but not Top 10 all-time." Now it's the second-highest rated series on MAL next to FMA (Brotherhood I think?). It's an honest series and so far it's Konosuba-level (which was amazing), so I like it.

Also I've never seen anyone mention it in this thread before (I guess because it's not most brehs' type of series?) but I've been watching Bang Dream Season 3 and I'm enjoying it a ton so far. :wow: For those who don't know, it's a musical anime based on the multimedia project, revolving around a bunch of high-school all-girl bands. Unlike Love Live though, Bang Dream is more rock-focused and different bands have different styles to them. The Japanese VAs can also play the same instruments or sing like the character they play, so every group has concerts (or Lives) where they perform as an actual band. So if anyone is interested in a musical-based anime series, look into it. Although S1 had regular animation, S2 had 3d animation and S3 has a combination of both.

Vinland Saga I need to start because I've heard great things from it, so I might start that later today. :jbhmm:

Should I watch these subbed or dubbed :jbhmm:

Subbed is your best bet. It's very rare but sometimes dub can be the better option. For example, The Disastrous Life Of Saiki K has fast paced comedy and some folks can't keep up with the subs. The English version lost some references but compensated with a very funny voice acting team.

Should I watch these subbed or dubbed :jbhmm:

Dubbed anime that don't alter the original meaning of the work itself are very rare. So as a rule, you go subbed if you're serious about watching a show as intended to be conveyed the original creators.

When funimation dubs an anime they pretty much have the license to make whatever dialogue alterations they want as it suits their own political agendas. So that's why in Prison School you have a reference to gamer gate even though that is never mentioned in the original anime, anywhere, and Dragon Maid has a character complaining about patriarchal societal demands when that isn't mentioned in the original anime, anywhere.

Cowboy Bebop is considered one of the greatest dubs of all time. And I agree with that. But there is still a noticeable difference in the way that Faye and Edward's characters are portrayed in both versions. and it has to do with the Japanese director casting specific voices to match the conflict of those characters, whereas in the english version that instruction is entirely lost. Ed sounds like a lunatic and Faye sounds like a mature adult when she's anything but.

this is pedantic if you don't care about media localization, just want to hear native voices over japanese.

I'll need to watch that then I know its on my to read list
Anything konosuba mention has my attention since that show is too much fukkery STEAL :russ:

I minght have to retract.

third ep they toned down the fukkery and it got overly girly, but at the same time the animation quality got better. Like they jumped studios or something. it's weird.

I'll watch the other two eps later

Yeah, I'm current now.

It's like they dropped the "girl is OP" pure funny fukkery, had this.... girly ep transition and went full on action with a girly bent.

I'm still watching it cause I enjoy it, but you won't find no KonoSuba genius here
