don't blame them for backing out. But they are stupid for even picking the show up to begin with as if Japan has any shame whatsoever with ecchi

now other licencing companies won't be able to work on the show. and there may not be a US blu ray release for the show. so all the fans have no way to support the creators legally outside of importing and funimation just lost money for no real reason.

meanwhile I'm trying to get a DVD release of Hajime no Ippo but Funimation wants to waste however many thousands of dollars on an ecchi that is too much for them to handle.

it's definitely pushing boundaries. The kind of anime people only admit they like in private discord channels and anonymous forums. Makes DxD look like Sesame Street.

But it's funny that they're surprised by that when they pay money to produce and advertise it to a region. So you'd think they'd do some research, contact the japanese studio to gather some intel, see what some of the creators have done prior, read the source material because it's an actual adaptation of a manga....nah just go ahead and sign up for a show because its going to be very popular and sell well.

Had no clue about this show until this controversy. Wanted to see what the fuss was about. Watched the first three episodes uncensored and its pretty funny actually. The third episode is basically fully animated hentai without showing penetration. No way they could keep that on the docket.

It will probably be the funniest anime of the season. A whole production company dropping the show adds to that comedy. The ecchi is very very gross, but it seems intended so that people stunned that what they're seeing is even allowed to begin with.

The manga, as usual, is far more layered which makes for a better delivery. They don't even know what they're missing.
