Just finished Code Geass. Death Note with Mechs, I was all in and it didn’t disappoint. LeLouche’s best friend has to be one of the worst uncle toms in anime history.

:russ: who, Suzaku?

I miss that period where we would bet over/under on if CC was gonna be eating Pizza Hut before an ep dropped

Suzaku suffers from a disease called not minding your business. And his dad was Japan's prime minister. That's what I call a bytch ass nikka:stopitslime:

Suzaku should have acted like this throughout the series

marathonned Bungou Stray Dogs' first season today. Couldn't put it down.

Currently on ep 3 of the second season. Season 2 feels like a totally different show. Straight dark gangster noir.

Dazai, the aloof goofy other protagonist of the first season is still aloof, but he's ruthless as fukk right now. :whew:

Started binge watching films that've been on my PTW list for 5+ years. Been missing out on a lot of great stuff

I hope the rest of the Macross franchise is as good as Do You Remember Love. I like how singing is literally weaponized to fight a war that seems to only exist for the sake of setting up a love triangle. It's a silly premise, but it works so well because the characters are genuine in their expressions towards one another and the mech battles are well animated enough to make it feel like an actual war with stakes on the line. In isolation the music isn't special, but in the context of the war and the characters the lyrics describe it takes on powerful meaning. Probably my favorite mecha anime ever, between this and 08th MS Team, and I would prefer Macross to the over the top destruction of Gundam if there are other seasons like this.

Whisper of the Heart was true to Ghibli's theme of empowered young female leads, and I liked it up until the rushed ending where Shizuku undermines all of her talent and hard work by making a serious commitment way too soon for a 14 year old kid. But It did check that box for me in that a good romance has to have partners who enable each other to progress in life, and both became a more fulfilled person than they were to start.

Samurai X Reflections reminds me how similar Kenshin is to Guts. Both isolated swordsmen with PTSD who inadvertently cause destruction to everything and everyone around them. Guts has the brand of sacrifice on his neck. Kenshin his cross shaped scar. Guts dies a little after every action in his Berserker armor. Kenshin's body is broken down after all the years of fighting.

Like Guts Kenshin might deserve a happy ending for all he's been through, but it's more realistic for him not to find one when there's been so much damage done to his body and mind. This OVA doesn't take the easy route of just allowing him to live happily with his kid and Kaoru. Instead he's a deadbeat husband and father because all he's ever known is war and without a battle to fight he loses his purpose to live.

It's a sad end to Kenshin. but the most appropriate one I think.

Berserk stans, anyone else notice that the end of the soul stone part of avengers: endgame is a eclipse reference? The part with griffith at the beach with the behlit.

Russo brothers out here showing respect and giving a nod to one of the anime GOATs:banderas:

Minus the gory deaths and demon rape. :PantherPsuse:
