Last night I watched this anthology collection film called Robot Carnival... damn what a unique experience. This shyt came out in the 80s and yet the animation is spectacular. It consists of nine short films made by well-known anime directors.....even though each story is disconnected from the other, it all shares one main theme, robots.

It's a real shame that LOTGH has such a small fanbase compared to other trash anime thats so popular. (SAO I'm talking about you)The only reason I even found out about it a few years back was that it was rated in the top 10 in MAL and I read the plot synopsis and was like

It also has the slowest build up ever and the battle scenes look like a 1970s arcade game like space invader or some shyt so I can see why not many pick it up but having said all that it really might be the GOAT anime. The plot has GOT level intracies and the cast is even larger. The themes that it tackles are deeper than anything I've ever watched(that includes anything in or outside anime) It really gives you a new perspective on society and the drama of it all is just amazing.
Reinhardt assembled the greatest squadron of all time . Wolfgang and Reuenthal. Yang Wenli on the other hand kicking ass and dropping historical nuggets of wisdom at the same time with his ragtag group of rebels. Rosen Ritter getting up close and personal with the bloodshed

I'm sure most here have seen it but if you haven't do yourself a favor and watch it. Get through the first slog of episodes and you'll be hooked

Logh is what got me into space animes. I still have a couple Logh ovas to watch like Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu Gaiden which has 28 episodes...im saving that shyt for later.
The galactic empire's squad was too stacked how you got oberstein, reunthal, reinhard, mittenmyer all on the same side.
Reaunthal is a GOAT character
... he's complex and has conflicting morals...its funny how his best friend, Mittemyer is the total opposite of him. Reuanthal is a dark, complex, mysojgynist and a tormented anti hero..while Mittenmyer is happy, innocent, simple and a hero.Also, Reuenthal was on par with Reinhard, strategy-wise and say shyt that'll be mistaken for treachery,..if he didn't have mittenmyer from the get-go to keep him on his toes, his ass would have got kicked out of the empire ages ago
I think that point was highlighted by Reinhardt. Because he was in control he promoted only those that were the best at what they did. Didn't give a fukk about family or status or name. That's why it was so stacked. He recognized talent cultivated it and put them in positions of power.This guy right here is the goat

The free planets alliance were corrupt though and stifled their best minds. Think back to jessica's fiance who was also smart and lost in like the first episode because his commander was a jackass. Even Yang had to put up with utter BS from them time after time. Basically it wasn't just a matter of the Empire being lucky they had all those brilliant minds but a direct result of the systems they had set up.

I think the best compliment I can give the remake is that it isn't terrible. The bar was impossibly high... but its decent. They do some things a bit different because they obviously don't have dozens of episodes to work with, but it does hit all the spots its needs to meet.
I agree it needed more episodes. Its like cramming the last two books of ASOIAF into 13 episodes of GOT. Kind of set up for failure. Also the facial structures were kind of bland. I really hate the alliance leadership. both sides are corrupt but imprisoning your only shot of competing against the empire because of job insecurity is next level retarded
I wished Yang had said fukk it, I resign have fun trying to fight without me bytch. but if he did that then everyone he cares about would be dead and his nation would be even more fukked than it already is. he's pretty much stuck fighting a war he fundamentally doesn't believe in for superiors that don't trust him because he's the greatest war strategist they have and he has the power to protect everyone he loves. A gift and a curse.

Man the rising of the shield hero is following the manga more than the light novel I'm hearing online
Thats how it usually goes, they just have to add a few filler moments but the panels are basically done.
The big problem with these novels getting animated is that they always want to get as many books as possible in the show. A perfect example of this would be the clusterfukk grandcrest war is.
Thats our burden as novel readers,
we get spoiled with detailed information and then the manga takes a bit away and then the anime takes a bit away....
