My 9 year old daughter recently discovered she likes anime and she’s hooked on Naruto. I want to introduce her to more because frankly I’m tired of hearing “believe it” and the shytty dub, but all of my favorite animes are violent and not suitable for an 9 year old (even though most of the shyt I saw at age is probably worse). Any recs breh?

Been thinking that if I have a daughter I'd show her Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura and Kodomo no Omocha. All of them show eccentric young girls in positions of power, would probably be very inspirational to her. There are some adult themes in those shows, some covert others not so much, but you wouldn't expect a kid to pick up on them.

Can't go wrong with Ghibli films Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, Ponyo. Usagi Drop is relatable to father-daughter relationships. Barakamon is family appropriate comedy that emphasizes the importance of familial bonds, has some adult humor that will fly over the head of a kid.

Good looking breh. I was actually sitting her down and watching nausiica of the valley of the wind and princess mononoke with her. Those the movies that got me hooked on anime when I was her age.

im into shounen/action/adventure

some "must watch" anime in this category would be -

fma brotherhood, hxh, jojos bizarre adventure, yu yu hakusho, samurai champloo, rurouni kenshin, dragon ball
trigun for what it turns into in the 2nd half
one piece...manga. anime doesn't reward you enough for the huge time commitment
berserk technically isn't shounen. but you should read it anyway and watch the 1997 series

myanimelist has an extensive list of user scored anime. gives you an idea of what the western consensus thinks

Well I got all my kids Into anime
Ages 13,11,10,6 I should count my 1 1/2 :russ:

I give the bigger 3 more leeway what to watch compared to 6 yr old

U can do sailor moon, one piece, dbz, dbs, dbz kai,my hero academia, bleach, one punch man, mob psycho 100, your name, fate series, kuroko no basketball, diamond no ace, your lie In april, world trigger and there is more but have to go thru my list tho

Comes down to what u feel is age appropriate for your kid. With all the shyt on tv nowadays anime ain't got shyt on violence and sexual content

I started watching this last night off what you been posting

this is not what I expected at all :ehh:

Dawg, based on what kind of description they give you, there's not much anyone can expect.

Joke's on me, though. I haven't enjoyed a show this much in a VERY long time. No less a boring slice of life show.

If it keeps up the pace it's going in, it's prolly going on my GOAT/"Show To People Who Never Watched Anime" list.
