and just for the record, this devayani broad isn't even upper-caste, she comes from an untouchable family. I just found that out today myself.

Interesting. Whats the story with her father, is he a big shot? I don't understand why no one is sympathizing with the maid.

I have no idea, but a lot of untouchables have made their way up the social ladder by getting into politics over the years. Yeah, I'm assuming he is a big-shot. Pretty funny that these clowns make their living off demonizing brahmins but then get a little power and get servants themselves :rudy:

The media is portraying the maid as an extortionist for asking for $10,000 and a regular passport :what: they are "exposing" letters that she supposedly wrote to her family back home telling them how great she was being treated by Devayani....It's completely lopsided coverage, pathetic. $10,000 aint shyt in the US and they know that.

Anyway elections are coming up soon and the ruling party is seen as weak and is in danger of losing power....a lot of this shyt is just posturing for that reason. They want to look good by standing up the US.

Lol, wow you too? You're pathetic

But anyways she got booked by the Feds, central booking is a city thing, but I think you get stripped search there too

If you truly think strip searching a diplomat and throwing them in a holding cell is not going to cause official retaliation I don't know what to tell you. These arrangements are strictly reciprocal. The only reason American diplomats walk around like royalty in other parts of the world is because of the protocols involved at that level.

If you think I give a fuk, I don't know what to tell you, and she wasn't a diplomat she was a consular worker

I agree with zerozero, seems like they went overboard with some of it. I disagree with him about her status playing a role in it though. I'm not for these types of searches just because the law enforcement official feels like doing it. It wasn't as if she was suspected of carrying narcotics or weapons. Seems like overkill.

The details are murky though, was she essentially trying to keep someone as her slave here? Did the State Department show in detail what she lied about and did?

This is basically my view. She needed to be removed, clearly, but they went overboard with the strip search. Obviously the Indian politicians then overreacted on top of that in their own response (and most of the overreaction is from party politicians who are just exploiting the issue to try and rack up votes... it seems like the highest level politicians understand what a load of bullshyt this is.) Either way, it's a damn circus at this point.

there is nothing significant about the strip search, its just standard federal procedure and she got treated better than a regular prisoner
