WH: Biden now ‘perfectly comfortable’ with migrant payouts — after calling $450K report ‘garbage’

President Biden is “perfectly comfortable” with cash payouts to migrant families whose members were detained separately after illegally crossing the US-Mexico border, White House Deputy Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Thursday.

The answer comes just a day after Biden labeled as “garbage” a report that his administration is considering $450,000-per-person payments.

Jean-Pierre pointedly pivoted Biden’s assessment after the American Civil Liberties Union on Wednesday night said Biden “may not have been fully briefed about the actions of his very own Justice Department.”

“If it saves taxpayer dollars and puts the disastrous history of the previous administration’s use of zero tolerance and family separation behind us, the president is perfectly comfortable with the Department of Justice settling with the individuals and families who are currently in litigation with the US government,” Jean-Pierre said at the daily White House press briefing.

Biden has switched his stance on migrant family payouts just a day after labeling the plan as “garbage.”

Before anybody tries do disregard OP post and his source, it's actually true. It's amazing how the Biden Administration keeps fukking up and essentially lying to people. If you're going to do the payout, then keep it 100% honest and be prepared to deal with the fallout that comes from it as lying only makes it look like you know that you shouldn't be doing it.

The payout is still going to piss people off regardless and I don't necessarily blame them. If you're going to pay them, but then just be honest about it and deal with the fallout and pushback from it. No need to beat around the bush about it as people are going to pissed either way.

there's a technicality in the sense that the government is admitting to wrong doing because they took actions that were illegal at the time they were undertaken.

litigation for slavery post abolition would have to deal with slavery post abolition not pre... so it has to be a litigation brought forward based on civil laws not criminal. either way it should happen. even if it has to go through the U.N.

by any means...
