Sounds like a cop out to me. If it’s medical it’s on him to address that shyt. He comes out and stinks up the joint every single night. That only hurts him (and whatever team he’s on) At this rate he’ll be out the league by the time his contract ends
It's not a copout. I do not like Russ but I do not believe he can literally miss that elbow jumpshot the EXACT same way every time he shoots it. He believes he's aiming for the window on the glass when he's not. He's gone from having a serviceable midrange to that, that isn't simply "he doesn't work on his game" or lack of confidence.

Unfortunately this is the result of never being held accountable for anything since he got in the league :manny:

That Lakers fanbase DONT PLAY THAT shyt.

Hopefully he does some soul searching and realizes he's best used as a role player now....put his ass on the bench. He's gonna have to humble himself.

I personally think he's too stuck in his ways to do it so here we are :manny:

watching this live was wild cause i was also in front of tv saying nooo... and then realized the crowd was too. :mjlol:

then he shot and bricked it anyway...:stopitslime:

what's also concerning is sometimes he looks lost. it's one thing to lock in on looking for assists, defense, rebounds, and avoid turnovers, but he can be caught looking around like he doesn't know where to be. i think he checked out.

Honestly, it took longer than it should have. His attitude is even worse than his game, which makes it next to impossible for this to end in any way other than a car crash. You can't tell dude shyt without him getting defensively sassy. Combine that with the putrid play on the court and it was only a matter of time. Now he's getting benched with the blessings of a front office that's desperate to move on from him and the fans are actively booing him. Him popping off at Magic was the death knell as a Los Angeles Laker with the way he's performing.

If you watched the post game interview it seems like he changed his attitude and is trying to be more positive :yeshrug:

let's assume it's something medical. wouldnt it have shown in how he shoots during practices? also when did this condition develop? a person could argue that if it is something he had before coming to the lakers his trade could be fraud

Or maybe…just maybe he’s just a depreciating basketball player. He did shoot the midrange better in the past….but even in his prime he was always one of the least most efficient shooters from there. He just looks like a player that doesn’t work on his game….from the sloppy ballhandling to the lack of touch on his finishing ability.

I get it though. Fans are throwing him lifelines because they refuse to believe an nba player can be this comically bad at something. But I haven’t seen any medical info come out on him…..so that would only be speculation. His team should absolutely go that route though…..a great player like Russ shouldn’t have to go out looking this sad.

After wwatching some highlights from his last season with Washington I realized he looks so bad because his role in the offense and not having a lob threat when AD is not on the floor.

His jumpshot was still broken though. But he didn’t have split touches 3 ways so he was able to get more shots up.

It probably does show in practice, we don't have practice footage and his teammates aren't going to air that out. I'm sure it did exist before coming to the Lakers and probably in the last 2-3 years with all those other trades as well since no one else has gone from 80+ to mid 60s from the foul line on top hitting the top of the backboard every single time.

Russ has always been a turnover machine, and always relied on power at the rim. I'm talking specifically about going from having a semblance of a midrange game to hitting the same wild miss every single time and steadily falling 15-20% in FT%. There's a bunch of players, All-Time peaks or not, who don't work on their game, have you seen this drastic of a shooting drop before?

I can’t think of anyone else that’s happened to. But that in itself would show how negligent of a player he is. If something is physically wrong he would be the first one to know. Especially if it’s an eyesight issue to the point where he’s clanking the top of the backboard. Yet he’s made zero adjustments and continues to shoot the same shot. It’s on the player to address issues like that…and if he doesn’t then that’s on him.

I wouldn't call it much of a falloff, but rather his playing style catching up with him. He never evolved his game, never fixed his flaws, and now when you take away the core components of that style because of aging, this is what you get. All that Westbrook can do now is be the biggest NBA heel in history.
