Weren't Angle/Lesnar suppose to have some of the best matches of all-time??

I thought their Ironman match was considered to be a classic. Certainly my 2nd favorite Ironman match, only behind Rock vs HHH.

That Iron Man match was excellent. In my opinion, the best WWE's ever done (I've never rated Rock/Hunter that highly) with a fantastic finish. Great stuff.

I think if Lesnar hit the shooting star press on Angle and didn't almost kill himself, that match would have been much better in our eyes. Didn't Angle wrestle that match with a broken neck?

Apparently, Angle was a complete wreck after that match and probably should've retired right then. A lot of his health problems could be traced back to that match, getting the clean-up surgery instead of a neck fusion and coming back far, far too soon.

Other than the Iron Man match, any Angle/Lesnar encounter's been marred by shenanigans. Triple threat with Big Show, Lesnar nearly killing himself, the Vince McMahon/You Tapped Out gimmick in mid-2003 (which, admittedly, paid off in the fantastic Iron Man finish), just lots of stuff. All great matches, but it just didn't come together until that Iron Man match.

I will say this: If you don't think that Brock Lesnar has had classic matches or was an integral element of a classic match, watch the Lesnar/Benoit match and especially the Lesnar/Guerrero match and get back to me. His heel persona MADE that match and made Guerrero's win that much more satisfying.

Brock worked for too short of a time for me to be shocked he didn't have a any classics. He never got a great feud/angle and that's almost a necessity for a GOAT match. And, besides Angle (whom he had 3 very good-to great matches), he didn't get to work other elite workers for an extended period of time.

Agreed on the Taker HIAC match love, it's my 2nd favorite after the OG one. His match with ****** on SD! should be mentioned as one of his best too :scheme:

That's Kurt's formula though. And most of the fans eat it up, that's why he's viewed as a GOAT candidate, specially in TSC :yeshrug:. He would be in my GOAT list too if he would take the time to tell better stories in his matches because when he does do that, he pretty much always delivers a classic.

That is the big criticism with Angle. He rushed through his matches just trying to get to the high spots. Brock was a great worker back then for only being in the business a short time.

That entire OVW class was dope when you think about it:

The matches were just "good". Two great athletes having good matches. The story telling aspect wasn't there. Kurt could have been the "old lion" defending his turf etc. they just threw them out there without much to work around beyond literally having "good" matches which they did.

Lesnar's best work was with Undertaker IMO

they were good but were one sided as fukk because Brock always won. Hard to get hyped if they were not evenly matched.
