An announcement on WCW's future was made about halfway through the show. The announcement: Shane McMahon, not Vince, bought WCW. The announcement set the stage for the WCW (and eventually ECW) Invasion. In a side nugget, during a preshow meeting, Vince McMahon gave his intentions to run WCW as its own entity and that there would be a minimal swapping of talent, but life would eventually present a different set of plans.
