It's not a waste if the team doesn't have long term plans for him. We aren't married to Jalen by any stretch.

But at the very least, by giving Jalen a top notch talent at receiver, we get to evaluate him with as few excuses as possible. If he fails, we try for another QB but still have the top tier receiver ready to be our next QBs bff.
Thats very true as well.. Im just going off their thinking... To help Jalen, and guy running routes closer to his vision helps more, and that to me is Pitts.. Pitts is a better Mark Andrews... Nobody has been a good outside receiver for Lamar yet though, so the mold is not figured out

Then we’ll be awful and have a good round pick, and then two mid/late first round picks. We can easily pick a franchise QB in 2022 if he’s not the guy. What’s the issue?
Honestly.. I think thats the best thing to happen and what will happen too.. Hurts is a tank commander who looks good making plays, yet losing games..

I have no problem drafting studs like smith or chase, Im just thinking what it does, pretaining to hurts

Bingo...all that working on mechanics doesn't matter if he's not patient enough to work through his progressions

I've watched him since his fresh yr at Bama & I never saw him consistently get to the third read and make an accurate throw past 10 yds

We have to hope that coaching can aide in his progression. Just because he hasn't shown it often in college does not mean he can't be coached to do those things in the pros. I'm taking a very optimistic look at him because I want him to succeed.

The realist in me readily admits that, from most of what I saw out of him, he is the one read QB I was hoping he wouldn't be. Its just not as egregious as some rookies I've seen. It stood out to me when he did go through his progressions and make accurate throws (wow accurate in a few instances) or show good timing. Those are things I believe he can get better at, because he seems very eager to learn on top of being able to retain and recall well. He reminds me of Russel Wilson in that aspect.

I'm high and forgot the whole reason I even quoted you. :dwillhuh::heh:

I'm all the way with you on Pitts. But, he would be a luxury in the same way that Gawdert was a luxury years ago. If we want to pair another solid pass catching threat at TE, we should wait until the 3rd at the earliest. This 12th pick needs to be a starter with impact.

Trade back out the top 10 for essentially one draft pick??

Makes no sense... sorry
You saying top ten like we were picks 1-5. Trade a #6 pick for a #12 pick this year and possibly a mid round next year is worth it. We need quantity first round picks instead of just one.

it's for another 1st rounder
only thing I don't like about it is having #6 in a QB top heavy draft means you could got a pure stud at #6
#12 isn't bad but wouldn't be surprised if they trade back again if they have the stock piling mentality right now

Howie track record with 1st rounders actually ain't as bad as ppl act like it is
he bypassed on a couple of stud WRs but generally his 1st rounders be legit starter types
it's the value depth picks in the other rounds that be trash :dead:
multiple 1st rounders could yield multiple long term starters i think

@portcityplaya

Tell me about Barmore

Quick, good interior pass rusher, he was essentially a 3rd down rusher for us. Hes big but not a space eater. I think he has pretty good potential, I was surprised that folks have him in the 1st rd, I dont think he'll be a probowl guy he wasn't as consistent as he could be. But if he plays to what he could be 13 full games of 17 he'll be very good.
But this is a weak DT class.

It comes down to whether you want:

- Chase or Pitts at 6
- Smith, Waddle, Surtain or Horn at 12 + Miami 2022 1st

I'm taking option B every time, there's a reason the top WRs on the board tend to slide like CeeDee & Jeudy did last year. You can't prioritize a position that's so deep and easy to fill when you're drafting that high unless you have no choice (no trade options, no QB/OL/DL on the board worth it).

and yet someone traded up to get that #6
you can trade down and draft lower graded prospects all draft long if stock piling is your objective
eagles invested 5+ picks in the early rounds on WRs last 5 or so years and basically none of them panned out. none of them were the elite top projected guys in their draft either
If you identify someone thats graded high as hell at a position of need at #6 why not get them. you still got high picks in the later rounds for depth, etc.

So him at 12 would be a pretty huge reach you think?

Ive seen him rated as the top dt alot
