I don't think he'll last that long but he'll put up big numbers the years he's healthy

These tall lanky 7'4+ nikkas never last long. Could he break the mold?

He a rare talent but I don't see him lasting long.
These European dudes different now. They grow up playing basketball everyday since they were pre teens. They practice all day and play all year long. They go pro as teenagers, they don’t bother with high school and college classes. They play and train literally 24/7, there is almost nothing the NBA can throw at their bodies that they aren’t prepared for

You all keep comparing him to other players his height, but almost all of them had major physical flaws. Yao was 300+lbs with massive legs, his feet couldn't handle the stress. The Bols are nowhere near as coordinated or flexible. KP and Samson are the only comparisons and I think they are both less athletic and "normal" than Wemby.

Wemby moves like someone almost a foot shorter and is probably more flexible than any else in the league. I think his relative lack of weight is what will help him in the long run. The less pressure on his knees and lower legs the better. He might gain 15-20lbs from aging alone and that should be fine. Packing on muscle is not the answer. KD is the blueprint.

It’s going to be hard to get separation on that unless you have elite handles/speed
That Wiggins matchup last week is how it’s going to go for a LOT of guys. If you’re a wing guy who’s main driver behind how they score is athleticism, body contortion, etc, you’re going to be in a box everywhere on the court if he’s on you.

Honestly the best comparison to his value is probably another recent guy in Chet. Chet moves the most similar to him with that build, has pretty similar levels of control and fluidity with his limbs (specifically arms lol), and has good timing as well (not as good as Wemb’s). That might really be his best analogue, especially amongst the recent skinny long limbed dudes like Bol Bol or whoever

Yeah, I can see that.

Either way, today’s NBA is as good as it gets for these guys. There’s really no need for them to spend all of their time in the paint getting beat up like in previous eras.
