bigrodthe1, I got alot of respect for you as a poster, brotha....but I must disagree.

Your statement here almost seems like an excuse for cats to continue to NOT give back or make a similarly positive impact on their communities. "Well, they come from broken homes so they don't know no better....".....well, while that may explain why they don't value the community spirit like other African-American "leaders" of the past, it also doesn't absolve them from that responsibility, either.

It's almost like some Black communities have given up, on some ol' "this is how it is and we ain't gon' change it" type shyt....I can't get with that. You can ALWAYS change your circumstances.....

Nah homie...I clarified in a later post that I can't be mad that cats don't want to be the next Malcolm etc...but I hope there are a couple of diamonds in the rough who do! It's a lot to ask someone who doesn't know any better to make changes. Normally you can't pass Trigonometry if you couldn't pass basic math. I mean how many cats in there early 20's are ready to make change?? I damn sure wasn't

The fact that you can articulate this yet you do nothing is sad, and I believe is the reason why Detroit is a rotting wasteland.
That nihilist doctrine of "every man for himself" is killing Detroit. No wonder Motown left Detroit and anyone else who became famous leaves.
