So there’s a lot to fix:

Coaching:

HC is clueless and brings nothing to most games

Defensive coordinator has been an abject failure

Zac Robinson as OC has had an up and down season but Im not against bringing him back

Front office:

The Kirk decision alone should end Fontenot’s tenure here. Beyond that big misses on draft picks (Kyle Pitts, most of the 2024 draft class)

Kirk’s inevitable trade but we’ll have to absorb a significant dead money cap hit

Team:

Defense gets no pressure, has to be fixed

Linebackers are ok. Landman, Ellis and Anderson aren’t dynamic but solid

I like our secondary more than most but we need a starting caliber CB opposite AJ. Dee Alford is awful and needs to be released

In the end you came around to see what was foretold.

:myman:

If Detroit wins the Super Bowl and Ben Johnson decides to step out on his own Blank needs to open up the vault. That’s the type of coach you target, someone who understands their side of the ball and is at the top of their game.

I typically agree with you in general, but I was surprised at the end of the first half when he let Penix go for the end zone twice with a little bit of time left versus kicking a field goal
That's what pissed me off, because that was a flash of brilliance and defiance. MF said "stop it this time" when he did that, and it was beautiful.

But towards the end of the game where you think he would be like "fukk it," and go for broke and show some heart again, he clammed tf back up.

Agreed. But will that happen? No

The team is a real HC away from making a playoff run with a young offensive nucleus. The situation with talent isn’t bleak, we obviously need to make SIGNIFICANT improvements on defense but we need a real coach and like you said a coach with a clear advantage on how to scheme it up

Can you imagine Ben Johnson with Penix, Bijan, Mooney, Drake, Ray Ray and this OL? It’ll be Detroit 2.0

Realistically they are not firing Raheem. Better chance fontenot goes.

For me, priority in the draft goes to linebacker and defensive line. CB #2 is important but we gotta start up front.

Offense is fine. Trade pitts and get a free agent tight end. Draft a RT that has the upside to potentially play left tackle down the line.

Not really much wiggle room with the cap. Maybe if we get lucky in the 1st with a stud DT you try trading Grady to open up space idk:manny:

My priorities go

DL
LB
CB
WR2
TE
K

Koo gotta go. Pitts gotta go (get J. Smith from Miami), Draft someone who can rush the damn passer. FA Cb's are a dime a dozen. We just need someone serviceable at this point to go with AJ. Draft some cheap LB's. A WR2 is a luxury, Mooney can do quite well but i think of him more as a slot, we need like a cheap Tee Higgins type, not really a priority at this point but a slight need.

The only positions that seem set are QB, RB, and OL.

BTW I think Terry goes, Raheem stays but has to make changes to his staff. We miss the playoffs next year hes done

A lot of ppl need to fired or dealt with for signing Cousins and then drafting Penix, then starting Cousins for most of the season. Only for him to stink it up, then you finally bench Cousins and the rookie comes in and immediately looks 10x better than Cousins. Obviously they had to start Cousins because the gave him all that money. Why the fukk did they give him all that money coming off an Achilles tear this late in his career??? That shouldn't only be a fireable offense it should be a criminal offense. WTF???

Don’t forget C Drew Dalman is an UFA and I can see the team making a decision on Jake Matthews and McGary at the tackle spots (RT is gonna need to be upgraded with Penix as the left handed starter).

I’d say EDGE & CB are my top 2 needs and then we need to figure out the tackle situation. We’re not gonna have a bunch of money in FA b/c of the Kirk contract so we’re gonna have to hit in the draft which considering Terry’s track record isn’t a comforting thought

You got your qb, rb, wr, you need defense and te

All defense this draft, hold ya nose at the draft position, they will never deliver from where you pick them which will be at the teens
